I'd say that would be the very definition of hate sex.  Some people would pay good money to see that.  Grace would get her money back and then some.

it's not like Casey Anthony has to worry about dignity or self respect.  her family has already disowned her, right?  might as well complete the story arc, hit the gym, drop a few pounds and get a manager to help her with a porn career.

Except without knowing how much the original debt was, nor how much time has passed, we have no basis for determining which is which.

http://articles.orlandosentinel.com/2011-05-26/news/os-casey-anthony -t rial-tax-lien-20110526_1_casey-anthony-tax-lien-jose-baez-s-kissimmee
Here we go.
"That year attorney Jose Baez struck a deal with ABC to sell Anthony family home videos and photos for $200,000. It's unclear who ABC paid, but the money was reportedly used to pay defense costs.
If ABC paid Casey Anthony directly, she could owe taxes on that payment."

so she got paid a ton of cash, didnt pay any taxes and now she owes the taxes, interest and penalties.

How does that work? In the years I have capital gains that are anything less than straightforward, the IRS sends me a letter that says 'actually, you us $97.12 more.' I send them a check and never hear about it again.

Curious: ElBarto79: my state tax return from 3 years ago.

when LA went after me the lady happily explained i could go back three years and file amended but they could go back 5 looking for more money.

Hmm I didn't know about that. Now that I think about it I wouldn't be at all surprised if they intentionally waited until the 3 years was up to hit me with a fine so that I wouldn't be able to do anything about it.

Yeah, I've never been fined before either. Just told that "Oops, you forgot to report this income, so you owe us this much more in taxes" and then I paid it. And that was for taxes that were from a few years prior. I don't recall any fines being attached. Maybe it depends on the type of omission that was made.

It was ABC who gave her $250k for the pics IIRC. Not coincidentally, most of the complaints about the Zimmerman case are that Treyvon is often depicted a few years younger. $500,000 for attorney fees and costs for criminal defense lawyer, Jose Baez
$145,660 for the Orange County Sheriff's office for a judgment covering investigative fees and costs related to the case
$68,540 for the Internal Revenue Service for taxes, interest, and penalties
$61,505 for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for court costs.

The reason she owes money to the Orange County Sheriffs Office is for the cost of the investigation relating to the alleged kidnapping of Kaylee. The result of the trial was that Casey knew Kaylee was dead, but allowed the sheriffs office to conduct the investigation, thus fraud.

Since Casey lied, she is liable for the costs related to the initial kidnapping investigation, I don't think she is being held liable for costs related to the murder investigation.

Legally being found Innocent of murder and Not Guilty is the same thing. Regardless of how you or anyone else feels about the verdict, being found not guilty should mean that she should only pay the fines and fees regarding what she was found guilty of. There is nothing right about charging her for trying to send her to jail and failing. She would already be on the hook for the lawyers and private investigators it took to protect her interest, she should not be held accountable for what they spent. This is very wrong for the courts to pass a financial sentence on someone the jury let go. I was once accused of helping a bank robber. What right would they have to charge me for the privilege of being interrogated? I didn't even know about the robbery until questioned.

For all the things she was found guilty of by the courts (obstruction of justice, etc), some of which explicitly have a large fine as a standard/minimum sentence.

She was only found innocent of murder, she still lied to the cops on several occasions and lost a related civil suit, both of which involve defendant paying court costs if you lose sometimes.

Odd question. If charged with a crime and you can't afford an attorney could the services that the state provided attorney provides be considered as a form of income and therefore taxed? I mean from what I know providing something of value (of x dollars) to someone is counted for tax purposes.

That way they can arrest you for tax evasion after you get off of the first charge.

namatad: she knew the kid was dead? but pretended she was kidnapped?
what did she know and when? and how could that be the case and not be involved in the murder??

From what I understand, the prosecution gave the jury an overly complicated either/or scenario..

The jury was given two choices, something like:

1) We have NO physical evidence of any of the particulars but Casey Anthony chloroformed the kid and taped her mouth and killed her on X date in X location using X method and transported the body at X time

- OR-

2) Not guilty

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_of_Caylee_Anthony#Verdict_and_sen te nce

because she wasnt innocent
she was found guilty of being a lying biatch which cost tons of dollars and she owes that money

2013-01-27 03:16:25 PM

namatad: Sebastian: The reason she owes money to the Orange County Sheriffs Office is for the cost of the investigation relating to the alleged kidnapping of Kaylee. The result of the trial was that Casey knew Kaylee was dead, but allowed the sheriffs office to conduct the investigation, thus fraud.

Since Casey lied, she is liable for the costs related to the initial kidnapping investigation, I don't think she is being held liable for costs related to the murder investigation.

she knew the kid was dead? but pretended she was kidnapped?
what did she know and when? and how could that be the case and not be involved in the murder??

That is why nothing about the case makes sense. They can't prove she killed the kid, but she somehow lied about knowing the kid was dead. The media was very bias and everything Orange County did was suspicious at best. I don't pretend to know the whole case because I wasn't on the jury as well as anyone who acts all outraged. The jurors were clear about their verdict and they heard the case thoroughly. Here is a crazy thought, someone close to her may have killed the kid and pinned it on her. She may have thought the girl was kidnapped and did not lie. She may have found out while the police was already involved, who the real killer is and is too scared to talk. Too many possibilities may have happened. I do hope Orange County eats the cost for not actually putting the killer behind bars. Whether it is Casey or not, the real killer. Either way Casey is messed up and confused.

ya, after reading the wiki article
the testimony given was that the kid was found drowned, her father and her then covered up the death with a series of lies.
she was found guilty of the lies, but not the death
the 200k she owes the government stems from those lies ...
wasted time and money looking for a kidnapped kid?? sigh

Casey claimed the following at trial:

Kaylee drowned accidentally in the family pool. She panicked and her dad helped her hide the body. Casey was sexually abused as a child by her father and that is why she reacted to her daughters 'accident' the way she did (making up the kidnapping stuff). Dad, of course denied it all.

The prosecution had no evidence that showed how Kaylee died, they only had her bones. Bones don't tell you that the kid died from drowning or from being locked in a trunk and suffocating because your mom put duct tape over your mouth and nose.

Dude. She claimed that the kid accidentally drowned, and her father forced her to dump the body and tell the police that she was kidnapped. That was her defense, so their is no since in trying to say somebody else could have killed the kid or that she thought the kid was really kidnapped. The reason why she was charged for the cost of the investigation was because of the lie, that she admitted to telling the cops, that led the cops on a wild goose chase looking for the imaginary nanny. They are charging her for the cost of that investigation.

lack of warmth: Earl of Chives: middlewaytao: If she was found innocent by the court why does she owe money to the police and courts?

She only got off on the murder charge, IIRC she was convicted on the theft by check, lying to the cops, etc....and she wasn't found Innocent, she was found Not Guilty.

For those wondering why she had to pay for a police investigation

She had those expenses levied against her for filing a false police report and the cost of the manhunt/search was levied against her. Remember, she was found guilty of making that false police report - which allowed the costs to be assigned to her.

Also, she owes her own lawyers a pile of money. I find it funny that the sleazy lawyers that got her acquitted won't ever get paid for their work after her bankruptcy. After the bankruptcy is complete - THEN she will do porn.

jst3p: stiletto_the_wise: It's funny. I can scan this thread and tell who has never been wrongly accused of a crime and became bankrupt and their life upended because of it.

She actually was convicted of a crime, she is bankrupt because she lied to the police.

Though Anthony was acquitted of killing Caylee, jurors convicted her of four counts of lying to detectives

When was it made illegal to lie to detectives unless she was under oath? They lie to us to get information. And I thought under oath was only on the stand.

/probably misinformed here

Has $1,000 in the bank? Man, that's WAY more than I've got! I'll have what she's having!

She should make YouTube videos where she reviews children's toys and make money off the advertisments. She'd make a bigger troll than Ann Coulter. You know people would watch just to cuss her out in the comment section.

Late as usual. If no one's mentioned it yet, this is awfully convenient timing, seeing as she's about to be sued by Zenaida Fernandez Gonzolez.

The article mentions it.

Although I don't get the timing, bankruptcy doesn't make active lawsuits go away just the judgements after the fact. IANAL though, there must be a good reason she is doing it now.

Yeah, that was mentioned upthread. But then I found this in the comments on another site:

" In my opinion, the primary underlying motivation to file bankruptcy wasn't about debts but rather to get the protection of the Automatic Stay to avoid being forced to answer questions about what happened to Caylee. As explained in this article, http://www.mdbankruptcylaw.com/lawguide/chapter7bankruptcy/powerofstay .asp

"In the moment when a voluntary Bankruptcy case is filed under any Chapter of the Bankruptcy Code the automatic stay goes into effect. ... The stay prohibits any act to obtain money or other property, whether real estate or personal property from a debtor. All law suits must stop. ... The stay is the equivalent of an injunction. An injunction is a court order prohibiting or commanding some action."

Casey has been allowed to refuse to answer Zenaida Gonzalez' attorneys' questions about what happened to Caylee on the theory that her 5th Amendment right against self-incrimination remained in effect pending her appeal of her convictions for false information to law enforcement. That particular legal protection expired last week when the appellate court issued its decision and Casey was going to be thoroughly questioned under oath by Zenaida's attorneys.

Now, the defamation lawsuit is automatically stayed, including discovery like depositions or interrogatories. The trial date must be vacated (cancelled). I expect Zenaida's lawyers to file various pleadings with the bankruptcy court, like a motion for relief from the automatic stay, a motion to determine dischargeability/non-dischargeability, and/or an adversary proceeding, but all of that will take a long time. And we have all seen that DELAY is the name of Casey' game."

IANAL either, so I don't know if the above comment is bunk. But it would make sense timing-wise if it's true.

Ahh so the sole purpose is to delay? I guess it could be a good strategy but it sure seems like it could backfire if the bankruptcy goes through and then they win their lawsuit. She would be on the hook for that amount for the next 7 years.

CSB: My patrernal grandparents lived in Largo(actually Bellair Bluffs, but Largo was their mailing address) for years. Thing I remember most was the "bouncy" grass in their yard. Never did find out why it was like that, though. When we visited them, we'd stay in Indian Rocks Beach. Good times...
