GRCooper: He's also a genuinely sweet and humble guy (since online gaming is fairly anonymous, we didn't know he'd be at the con - if someone hadn't recognized him, I don't doubt he'd never have mentioned who he was)

CSB:

Until he retired a year or two ago, my Dad was once King of the Train Nerds. Utilizing his knowledge of trains, chemistry, and attention to detail, he make a business out of producing model train car kits (you'd better believe they were H.O. scale, baby). Well, it was another railroad convention, and the folks had dragged us kids along again. I know it may be hard to realize, but the whole affair was a special circle of Hell reserved for active, young children. 95% of the people there were middle-aged men wearing engineer caps and/or overalls, usually adorned with various buttons with terrible train-related puns. Sometimes, the convention was a little more diverse, including booths for remote control cars, planes, and boats, but this was almost never the case. Thankfully, my loving mother would often take my sister and I away for awhile, checking out the sights of whatever city we happened to be in. It was on one of these outings, that we missed our chance to have a brush with greatness....

At the time, the show Family Ties was the biggest thing on TV. My Dad was sitting at our booth, eagerly awaiting the next potential customer. A gentleman walks up, talks with my Dad for a bit, checks out his train kits, and moves on. It was only then that Dad recognized his visitor. It was none other than MICHAEL. FARKING. GROSS. Impossible, you say? A glorious golden god like Steven Keaton would step down from on high and bless a humble model train convention with his presence? I understand, my friend. I've never known my father to be nothing but brutally honest, but this was too far outside the realm of possibility. Dad revealed that he had unsheathed his mighty Olympus camera and surreptitiously taken a picture of Gross at the next booth. My sister went on a quest to find him ourselves, but like a rainbow or shooting star, he was gone as if he was never there. Once home, Dad took the roll of film down to his dark room, emerging several hours later with his proof. How long did we all sit at the table, gazing upon his greatness? Hours? Days? None of us really know. All I know is that, after that convention, the family business exploded with orders, and was finally on its way to becoming a big deal in the model train world. Coincidence? I think not!

On a side note, Gary Coleman was also a train nerd, but he was into those big, prefab Lionel trains, so fark him.

KipKips: Maybe it was just me, but it was so odd to see baby-faced Dave Foley age so quickly, especially when the rest of the cast still look relatively similar to how they did back then. I doubt I would've guessed it was him had you shown me a current photo back during NewsRadio.

/McGuillicutty and Green was always one of my favorites
//"Please give me my money..."

Baby faces of both sexes tend to age quickly. Lohan's shot, and Seyfried will look rough as a trailer-park elf soon enough. DiCaprio looks like an apple from the bottom of the crate.

Is Dave Foley still a fugitive from the Canadian justice system? I read a story awhile back about how he skipped out on a bunch of child support payments, because the payment rate was set at the height of Newsradio when he was making tons of money, but now that he is not working as much he can't afford those payments.

He's allowed into Canada for the time being because of a legal loophole. His Ex is suing him in California, so he can't be arrested in Canada for non payment until that suit is settled

That's been Foley's version of events. His ex's lawyer has taken the position much of the support arrears were incurred when Foley did have sufficient income, and that he has not disclosed information with respect to his post-KITH income. His ex has, AFAIK, never commented publicly, and I don't believe any of the underlying orders are available online.

nightronin: highwayrun: nightronin: dopekitty74: My homophobic ex wouldn't let the show be on when he was around, so i never saw it much in its original run. Have caught some reruns over the years though. The birdlady and pretty much anything Scott Thompson did were my favorite bits.

Was he afraid he'd catch The Ghey if he'd watch it? To not have a show on because one member of the cast is homosexual is pretty strange

Yeah, I have a family member like that. Although Paul Lynde and Jack Benny don't seem to faze him at all.

does he know that Paul Lynde and Jack Benny are gay?

I knew they were, I was asking if highwayrun's family member knew or was just oblivious as far as those two were
