I was visiting a friend in Elizabeth Pa, just south of Pittsburgh last week. She came out on the porch and told me we shouldn't go in. I said no problem, is something wrong? She told me her Dad was in the kitchen crying because he just heard Stan Musial died. He was originally from the area, my friend is Polish, and I guess he meant a lot to the people from down there. RIP Stan the Man.

Not that I'm trying to derail a thread, but his passing was a week ago today, Jan 19th. It was all over the news, SportsCenter, heck it was even on the segments on the NFL playoff games. Why is this news, or rather why is this news a week late?

Of all the local heroes and hall of fame players who put on the Cardinal uniform,
No one was more beloved in this city than Stan Musial.
No one deserved it more than he did.

Don't get me wrong, I have great respect for what he did for Baseball and what he meant for the game. I was just curious as to why it was so late.

My father mostly grew up in New Rochelle, NY, but was a lifelong Cards fan(as am I). He used to go to Ebbetts Field and the Polo Grounds a couple times a year during the 40s whenever the Cards were in town, just so he could watch Musial play. He said Stan may not have been the most talented player on the field, but was the most fun to watch.

/love my Cardinals
//loved my father, too
///miss talking baseball with him
