I work for a web hosting company (not godaddy) and sometimes we require that people send us in a copy of their drivers license. People get super pissed too. Well, maybe if you had up to date contact information on the account you wouldn't need to prove who you are, we're not just going to give you access to someones files and domain names to do whatever the fark you want because you say you are a certain person.

Am I crazy, or would this be easier to fake than almost anything else they could ask for?

Guessing the new 32-character password for the ex-girlfriend I'm psychotically stalking would be difficult. And if she's worried about my psychotic stalking, she probably changed the "reminder" questions to things I couldn't guess. But I know her birthdate and I have her picture, and it's easy to find specimen licenses online if you don't have the right one yourself.

With an inkjet printer, a crappy cell phone camera, a light level that's not quite high enough for my crappy cell phone to focus perfectly, and MS-Paint, I bet I could do a passable job, and I have basically no skillz whatsoever in this department.

Since they are asking you to include a SCAN of your photo ID, there's nothing to prevent you from editing this SCAN in a photo editor, to make a fake name, a fake date of birth, changing the picture, etc.

It would be easy to build a database of scanned text from photo ID's borrowed for a scanning project, and swap around whatever digits or characters you want. As long as the color/brightness balance is correct, Facebook has no way to doubt the veracity of the scan.

,

They want a pay stub or something else? Well, okay, so you make a SCAN of it. And, there's nothing to prevent you from editing this SCAN in a photo editor....

You are forgetting that the experts out there can tell when a photo has been 'shopped.

/they've seen a lot of them in their times and they can tell by the pixels
