Mugato: On the Aliens tip I'd pick Vasquez over Ripley. She had more training and a bigger gun. Sure she died but it's not like she went out like a biatch like Bill Pullman.

Basically what I came here to say.

The xenomorphs were a whole other level of badness, but you pit Vasquez against any battalion, and I'm puttin' my money on Vasquez.

*sigh* Yet another list where 'fictional' is used as a synonym for 'on TV or in Movies, because we can't be bothered to read books anymore'.

Not that there's anything really *wrong* with the list, but it is woefully incomplete. I believe someone has already mentioned Honor Harrington. I would add Lady Cordelia Vorkosigan, and any Heinlein heroine - Friday, Mary Cavanaugh, Hazel Stone, Star, Caroline Mishiyeni (sp?), D.T. Burroughs-Carter, Hilda, Carmen Ibanez (but not Dizzy Flores - in the original, Diz was male) - I can go on and on. Or Jim Butcher's Lt. Karrin Murphy, and Amara of Calderon. And oh! so many more.

Celebrate the ladies on the list, by all means - they are worthy of it. But please don't blinder yourself to the wonders of print.

Sure she's been mentioned four or five times, but she should be, because she's just too bad.

No Tanya (Kari Wuhrer) from the Red Alert series?

I also object to the characterization of Scarlett and Lady Jaye as the "token females" of the GI Joe team. They're not as popular as the Baroness (mainly for cosplay reasons), but not even mentioning them by name is just plain sloppy writing.

Galileo's Daughter: No Geena Davis from "The Long Kiss Goodnight"?

I thought I was the only one who remembered that film. That movie was great, should have been a franchise. Well except the not making money part.

thamike: 10 broken, crazed individuals who don't belong anywhere near firearms (except for maybe Ripley...maybe)

Ripley has a severe case of PTSD and never touched a rifle before the midpoint of Aliens. She also has a skewed sense of priorities like going back for her cat. Lara Croft is the most sane of the group.

Mugato: Yeah and IIRC, she wasn't even killed by a xenomorph. She set off a grenade taking some of them with her.

She and Gorman were surrounded on both sides, so she went the "I'M TAKING YOU WITH ME" route.

I maintain that she could've beaten both xenomorphs if she put her heart into it.
