I totally get the rioting. You're sitting around watching soccer so after an hour you think "I guess I'll punch the guy behind me and break up the boredom."

Most soccer rivalries, especially the bloody ones, use soccer as an excuse for more traditional reasons to beat each other into bloody pulps. You know, good reasons like religion, economic class, regional and cultural differences. PS: I miss the Old Firm.

Egypt mostly sux.

A family recently got 15 years for converting from Islam to Christianity. And the brotherhood is an ancient group of frightened crouching masturbaters.

They were so innovative a few thousand years ago. Except for slavery and incest, of course. What the hell happened?

Complete freedom is not compatible with democracy. If there is to be any kind of social organization, it must have limits on freedom; the right to shoot a gun ends where the right to live begins. Different cultures have different levels of freedom that they can withstand, before destroying themselves. To have democracy, a culture has to have as much freedom as possible without destroying the social structure that allows an organized military defense of their territory (aka government).

The Egyptians had that under Mubarak. The US, ruled as it is by insane drama queens who are not-so-secretly trying to destroy the world for being imperfect, helped their counterpart drama queens in Egypt depose him. Now Egypt is paying the price, and will continue to do so until the US looks the other way long enough for a new military dictatorship (NOT a theocratic dictatorship, though the IDQs will insist there is no difference because both are imperfect and therefore equally bad) can be imposed.
