Do they inspect breastfeeders' jugs, too?

We must ban assault bottles with extended tips.

God I farking wish they'd nix the TSA. Hasn't this bullshiat gone far enough?

Having used that airport many times, it is difficult to tell the difference between shutdown and normal operations.

How do you want your milk?

Irradiated or manhandled?

No, the headline is incorrect. The shutdown was caused by the jobs program known as the TSA.

2013-01-26 01:44:16 PM
So they screwed up the inspection procedure on the baby bottles, and decided this error requires massive disruption to correct. Why is there no one with the authority to play the overwhelming odds that this screw up did not coincide with a terrorist plot that would have been caught otherwise and NOT do that????

Nope. It's big business now.

Having to travel for work has gotten really old. I used to enjoy bouncing out of town for a few days and seeing new cities and whatnot. The TSA and the entire airport process makes me not want to fly at all.

The worst TSA incident I've been involved in caused an airport to shutdown.. Someone had dropped a burger king bag next to a farking garbage can. Seriously it's like an entire organization sharing half a brain.

Because if we learned anything from 9-11, it's that terrorists are coincidence magnets.

This.

Wait! See the technician sabotaged the device that day, for those people so they could an illegal liquid through security.

How do they know that one of the bottles hadn't already been passed off to someone else? Sorry officer, we only had three bottles not four.

^^^THIS^^^

I used to love to fly and see someplace new. Or even enjoy the fun a having a certain city be one of my regular "haunts".
Now? I avoid it like the plague. It is loathsome and tiring to travel. The TSA needs to be dismantled. They serve no useful purpose.

Oh my God. Terrorists are breeding "Jihad Babies"! With their innocent charms nobody will suspect that they're armed with suicide diapers! Get this information to the news sites immediately! All babies may be infected with "terror milk"! God bless the TSA for alerting us to this new treat, god bless!

Only if they are lactating.  You don't want them smuggling too much liquid now, do you?

I would normally laugh at that, but it is actually far too sad and far too true.

They must have been big enough to contain more than three ounces of liquid high explosive. Or baby food. They're both deadly killers.

I'm sorry that you're being inconvenienced but you should be upset with terrorists and their sympathisers, not the people who are there to guard against them. Even if those guards are clumsy and skittish.

We pay a huge price to protect lives. But don't say that we should just let people die. That's ridiculous.

The TSA hasn't save one single life. And there are other proven better methods to detect possible "terrorist" activity, ones the have much less impact on what are supposed to be our freedoms.

They haven't protected shiat since they became an organization. They haven't stopped or prevented a single terrorist act. All they've done is inconvenienced an entire population. The huge price we're paying is for the illusion that we're protected. The only thing they had to do was arm pilots and make the doors impossible to break down which they've done. The rest is up to the passengers who have done FAR more to prevent air disasters than the TSA ever has.

If they will keep planes from getting hijacked then let's implement them! Sounds great. What are these methods?

Yes the TSA sucks, but you know what? Once you get by security and you're on the plane, you're good to go. Just for myself, I'm not going to let the idiots at TSA stop me from traveling.

Even the most BASIC application of statistics and probability would make these kids of actions clearly ridiculous.

I mean, the probability that any one traveler with a baby is using baby food as a cover to transport something dangerous to the plane or passengers is likely 1 in 20 million (and even then, I'm likely overestimating the chances).

So what are the chances that during the brief period that the baby food scanner is malfunctioning a terrorist lucks into picking that line, at that airport, at that exact time with their explosive baby food.

The answer, of course, is absofarkinglootly zero. I mean, forget statistically close to zero, it is factually ZERO!

What a farce.

Your words. You didn't fix anything for me. The TSA problem can be changed if voters really wanted to, and my alternative to traveling is to simply not travel.

Ok, this story only has 2 pertinent details.
1. It was a TSA story. Over 12 years of nothing but bad news about that august agency has shown us that not one single TSA employee knows what a baby bottle is.
2. It was a story out of NJ.
'Nuff said?
