I hope they feed him now, a few roaches and some rainwater must have left him hungry.

I know this is supposed to be a heart-warming tale of survival but I find it rather depressing to think of a poor tortoise who, but for the noises of the creepy hoarder, was completely alone for that long.

Son Leandro was astonished to find Manuela shuffling around in a cardboard box containing an old record player.

Am I missing something here? It was locked in a room that only the dad went into. The dad died this month. The headline should read, "Weird dad keeps secret tortoise locked in storeroom."

What a horrible story, being locked in a hoarder's den for three decades.

My thoughts exactly. If it was really in a cardboard box, it would have had NO access to any food or water (provided the roof wasn't leaking).

You'd think that after spending all that time in the locked room the turtle would've come out with at least some for of a reptile dysfunction...

Wow 30 years. And here I feel bad if I miss a day here and there feeding my turtle, Henry. Poor thing. Glad Manuela was found and reunited with her family.

/turtles are the best pets, no barking, no peeing on the furniture and smart enough to tell the difference between their humans

Awww man, that's really sad, I am misty eyed. I hope turtles don't feel lonely.

I can buy that part, given what we don't understand about deep hibernation, but the part with the top hat and cane and dance number? That's absurd. You wouldn't find something that ridiculous even in a cartoon!

story absolute bullshiat, one of the kids was keeping a pet turtle in the room and didn't tell mom
