Here's the entire crew for the show, both technical people and writing people. MSNBC does have one of those giant newsrooms, but the opinion shows individually have pretty small staffs.

No forgiving needed. She did nothing requiring forgivness in that clip. She corrected a previous error (something you rarely see other pundits do) and she thanked the right wing blogosphere for suggesting that we talk about right wing extremist congrespeople like Steve Stockman before the upcoming election. The faux outrage from the conservative fringe is just that. Nothing to see there at all.

I watched some of the 13 minute cip.

Her first segment was on a man who purchased the Pontiac Silverdome because no one else wanted it. Then a storm blew through the area and damaged the roof. The new owner said the roof would get fixed. But Rachel's connotation was pure, distilled shiat. Apparently fixing the Silverdome isn't good enough for her for some unknown reason. Who knows what the fark she wants. The way she said things made me want to punch her in the throat.

The second segment was about a small island on the US/Canada border by Detroit whose owners want to turn it into an Independent Commonwealth. Maddow is upset by this idea because apparently she wants the island to turn into the shiathole that Detroit is? I don't know what she wants and she doesn't really explain, she just criticizes people trying to save their neighborhood.

The third segment was on Gov Snyder passing a bill that only a few weeks earlier, was repealed by voters. When school boards, etc get into "emergency financial situations" because they overspent, this restricts their rights to make spending decisions because they've proven they aren't capable of balancing their budgets. Maddow only addresses the fact that Snyder passed a law that was repealed by voters earlier, but didn't discuss whether it was a good law or not. This article has more info. Then she says republicans are like honey badgers and dont give a "bleep". I could says the same thing about this democrat. But like I've said in other posts, its not just what is said in the news, but how its said, and what isn't said that is important.

Then she says Michigan republicans don't care what anyone thinks of them which is painting with a broad brush and would be as stupid as if I said *all* democrats are losers when really its only about 60% who are losers.

That got me to the 4 minute mark of the 13 minute clip. Then she talks about Fark and it felt like when my 1 year old brings me a D battery and I act surprised and grateful for it.

Seriously anyone who watches Maddow and feels validated is a farking moron. Keep drinking that kool-aid.

So agreeing with someone's point of view and commentary from time to time is tantamount to being brainwashed by a religious cult?

There is an irony in that phrase getting bandied about by Fox News and the christian conservative hate-machine. An irony they are completely blind to.

An irony that brings amusement to my cynical heart.

Ummm, she's a liberal commentator. She regularly mentions that. She isn't trying to hide anything.

The "segments" you mention weren't independent segments, they were layers of a story building up to a broader point. Perhaps the reason you didn't like it is because you couldn't follow that for more than 4 minutes, and therefore didn't really get what she was doing,

She's one of the few American commentators of any political stripe that presents arguments as a complex series of layers, so you can understand why she thinks what she thinks.

It does mean you need more of an attention span though. You seemed to be thinking you were watching E!.

She really didn't make any points except for the way she stresses certain words. You can feel the smarminess coming through her.

I really don't like to say this, but I get the feeling that she might be going over your head. To be so angry and adamant after watching for 4 minutes of a quite mundane segment really suggests it's not the content that's bothering you, or the style, but frustration at not understanding it.

That's the only explanation for being quite so disgruntled so quickly.

Agent Smiths Laugh: occamswrist: Seriously anyone who watches Maddow and feels validated is a farking moron. Keep drinking that kool-aid.

So agreeing with someone's point of view and commentary from time to time is tantamount to being brainwashed by a religious cult?

It's about the same as putting someone on your ignore list because they say something that you disagree with because you think it's easier to ignore them than engage them in meaningful discourse.

There is an irony in that phrase getting bandied about by Fox News and the christian conservative hate-machine. An irony they are completely blind to.

An irony that brings amusement to my cynical heart.

Oh, I agre;, but that's kind of the point, too.

occamswrist: Madbassist1: occamswrist: That got me to the 4 minute mark of the 13 minute clip. Then she talks about Fark and it felt like when my 1 year old brings me a D battery and I act surprised and grateful for it.

Someone asked what specifically she says that is wrong so I decided to spend some time watching her clip, reading about what she said, and commenting on it. It was taking more time that I wanted so I didn't watch the whole clip. Maybe there was MacGuffin I missed, I took each of her little stories at face value.
