Damn, it dethroned Jack And Jill? That's no mean feat.

Apos: Damn, it dethroned Jack And Jill? That's no mean feat.

Yeesh. That was a turd hydrogen bomb, too.

Movie 43 looks like there's a few funny bits (all of which we've probably seen in the commercials already) and the rest is just "HEY LOOK HOW MANY PEOPLE I KNOW" mixed with "LOOK HOW GROSS WE ARE ISN'T THAT HILARIOUS".

2013-01-26 12:16:25 AM
I don't know what the fark that movie is supposed to be about, the previews make no real connection to any plot. But they are advertising the hell out of it.

It's apparently a collection of skits, sort of a Kentucky Fried Movie kinda deal.

I've seen ads for it running before videos on porn tube sites like redtube.  I find it hilarious that mainstream movies advertise in porn now.

That was the WHOLE point of the movie. It was never made to be a hollywood blockbuster or have a storyline worth watching for.

If you want depth and meaning, go watch Lost and be disappointed at how it ends. Or Battlestar Galactica. Or St. Elsewhere.

I'm holding out for Movie 44.

BronyMedic: That was the WHOLE point of the movie.

I thought the point was to get high profile stars into witty, raunchy vignettes that are accentuated by the casting choices, not two hours of Oscar-nominated poop jokes.

"It wasn't meant to be some kind of GOOD movie" is an interesting defense, Mr. Farrelly.

I somehow doubt that.

Sight unseen, I have to believe that there are worse movies than that.

Given that Marlon Wayans is still making movies, I'm guessing this will be a big hit.

This is, without a doubt, the funniest Marlon Wayans appearance in years.

Well done!

They should have called the movie "42".

What ever happened to Movie 34?

2013-01-26 01:45:53 AM
Academy Award winner Halle Berry no longer can cite "Catwoman" as the low point of her career. In "Movie 43," she initiates a game of "Truth or Dare" on a blind date - and that leads to Berry making guacamole by mashing avocados with her bare breasts, and inserting a turkey baster filled with extra-hot sauce into herself. And then things get REALLY ugly. My God, do they get ugly.

I... I must see this.

Yes, I must spend two hours of my short time remaining on this earth watching this movie so that I may see this.

You're aware that when most people criticize this stuff, it's a criticism of the content and not the concept?  Most people don't dislike lowest-common denominator comedies and loud, noisy action movies.  They dislike the bad ones.  I would imagine the same applies here.

After I'd seen the TV spots a couple of times, it was obvious to me that this wasn't meant to be an award winner. But, I did get the idea that it was intended to be a humorous film more in line with us low brow folks. As this article said, I was hoping for a "Groove Tube" or "Kentucky Fried Movie" type of film. Yet, as I see more and more previews and read more and more commentary about this flick, it just doesn't seem like it reaches even that "lofty" height.

There's a difference between a bad movie that's fun to watch, and just utter garbage.

It sounds like a bunch of scenes trying to out-Aristocrats each other.

If someone comes in after the credits and goes "... The Aristocrats!" it might make the whole joke worthwhile. But, alas, I am asking for too much.

2013-01-26 04:40:47 AM
I'll watch it when it gets to RedBox and will probably end up thinking that it was worth the dollar. I'm not going to expect anything but a bunch of raunchy humor, politically incorrect vignettes and scatological references. I'm fine with that. If you're the type of person that likes Woody Allen movies and hates Dumb and Dumber: don't go see this movie, dumbass; don't complain about it; move along and shut the fark up.

Complaining about this movie is like going to a wrastlin' match and constantly pointing out that jumping off the top turnbuckle and landing on someone's throat with your knee would kill a b*itch. No sh*t, Sherlock. That's the damn joke.

Yeah, god forbid when people throw down 8 bucks a ticket on a movie, they expect it to be, you know, good. Those snobs.

I like both; Dumb and Dumber was frickin' hysterical. This movie, on the other hand, looks about as funny as The Love Guru.

The Washington Post used oddly similar language, calling it a "masterpiece of tastlessness," in its positive review.

That's impossible. Either you have to love all crude comedies, or you're a snob who only likes black and white French comedies from the mid-60s. You can't judge movies on a case by case basis.

Me too. I like all kinds of comedies. I can tell from the previews what kind of movie this will be. Will I go watch it in the theater? Hell, no. There are other movies I want to see. The fact that there are a bunch of stars in it means nothing to me. But there are plenty of morons who like Jersey Shore and watching TMZ who will get baked and go see this thing. They'll laugh and the humor won't make their brains hurt.

In 6 months I'll probably have a bad day or something and I'll want to rent a movie I don't have to concentrate on. I'll get a few beers and rent this movie and I'll snicker at the stupid jokes and make raspberries at the absolutely bad ones--and when it's done--I won't be angry that I got ripped off.

Meh...

No mention of the Terrence Howard segment? Did it get cut or something? It looked like the funniest thing in the movie.

I'm still trying to figure out how they got so many reputable actors and actresses in this terrible movie. I think it is so odd to hear Kate Winslet is in it. That's.. just odd.

They always fail

This movie looks bad and anybody who sees it should feel bad.

Seriously...the previews don't even appear to be funny, and those are the BEST scenes.

The Room holds a special place in my heart as being the most hilariously incompetent piece of film making I've ever witnessed. It's largely not awful though because it holds your attention similar to the way a chimp on LSD would. You know nothing brilliant is going to happen, but you're also not quite sure how weird things are going to get either.

So, they are ascribing to the Hollywood inverse law of promotion. The more money they have to spend on advertisements the worse the movie is. .

No, no, no, no. I saw this movie last night and I could not stop laughing from start to end! I don't understand why it is getting such negative reviews all over the place. What is wrong with these critics? Have they all lost thier sense of humor?
I am just so pissed that this movie will make such little money and be out of theaters soon. I saw it last night and then said, This moives deserves to earn 200 million this weekend. But it won't.
Just stay past the credits for the final short. I did not want this movie to end.
I have seen a lot of comedy in my 33 years on this earth and this is some of the best.

The actors signed on when there were legit directors and writers on board. Then the good directors and writers quit, leaving only the Farralys in charge.
