I've seen this, except it was a bus and the city was Seoul.

Yeah I was just going to say I've seen this before. In Korea.

The "why you need a dash camera" link at the end was amusing too. Not quite sure if the idiot's in front of him were trying to hit him or just trying to get to the parking spot they missed. But still funny!

Wassamatta Subby? Never been to Canada?

Standard ice driving maneuver. Oh sorry, manouevre.

/Fun four-wheel-drifts in your behemoth. Takes the boring out of winter driving.

Mmm, I'll never forget being in the middle of a heavy snowstorm in Downtown Chicago - and watching a valet with a $100,000+ Mercedes Benz executing a flawless 180 in the snow just like this video. With his arm out the window. In freezing cold temps. In about 8 inches of fresh snow.

That man was an inspiration.

If you're going to drive like a douchebag you might as well do it LIKE A BOSS.

2013-01-26 04:52:41 AM
I've seen this several times. Though nowhere as fancy as in places abroad like Russia or Korea.  And though I've witnessed it in the ol' USA, I've  NEVER  heard them referred to as,  "Boss".   The names I've always heard them referred by began with an "A" and had something to do with a HOLE.  I, myself, have only reacted to them with universal sign language.  I'm sure no matter what country, the flight of the BIRD is always recognized by the flap of their wings. :D

puffy999: Does EVERY SINGLE VEHICLE IN RUSSIA have a dash cam?

It's extremely common, as there is rampant insurance fraud there.

Okay, I have always been curious because it seems that there are so many more videos on Russian traffic WTFs than any other nation.

I mean, from what I see, I'd want a dash cam not for fraud but for idiocy. Some things you just could not try to say actually happened without a video... I saw that 13 minute video.

In 2009, Russia required everyone to have auto insurance and loosened the laws following an accident. Previously, at every accident no matter how minor those involved would have to wait for the traffic police (Russia has a specific police force to deal with traffic related incidents) which would often take hours. Corruption would be rampant with the cops starting a bidding war to determine who was not at fault. Also, insurance in Russia is a bit different. You would pay say $3,000 for $10,000 of coverage. If you get into an accident and need to use $5,000 of coverage, you would pay another $1,500 to get your coverage back up to $10,000 and so forth. Anyway, the loosened laws allow people to file insurance claims without need for waiting for the traffic cops for minor accidents. Of course, as mentioned, this led to a great deal of insurance fraud so it's better to be safe than sorry.

I've been looking for dashboard cams but all I see online are Chinese ones that I don't really trust. Does anyone have experience with dash cams? People here in Florida do not know how to drive.

If only any other country had a system to copy. Oh well, better make something up.

I did something like that once by accident 20 years ago. I still feel bad about it.

I can't put my finger on what you're trying to say.

I made a F-U turn yesterday. It was the exact opposite of that one: mine was as slow as possible, with a couple of extra back-and-fills. And much more effective than giving the finger.

I've been on the road in dozens of countries, including on the infamous Bolivian Camino de La Muerte, but have never seen anything like what passes for driving in the Dominican Republic.

I bought one of those on ebay and it works like a charm. Well, once you get past the Chinese mini-manual that's been translated by Google. You're better off just not bothering and figuring it out by pressing the tiny buttons on the setup at random until you get it working. After that just pop in an SD card and it's plug and play.

Phnom Penh is the most chaotic I've ever seen.

Make a left turn by edging into the oncoming traffic lane and then turning left into the oncoming traffic lane, slowly edging your way onto the right side of the road. Honk your horn a lot. You know. For safety.

2013-01-28 01:17:16 PM
Ive seen that before as well. In Connecticut. Except add one more lane of traffic and a left turn only lane that the driver could have easily used for his uturn. The light is about to turn green, the driver floors it from the right most lane across 2 lanes of traffic, the left turn lane and is spinning his wheels all the way into the right most lane going in the opposite direction. I was actually kindof impressed by it and suppressed my road rage.

I wasnt even mad

The Russians all get theirs from China too. There aren't any 'Made in Russia' dashcams. If it's good enough for them ...
