Umm... no...

Amazing... my point went sailing straight over your head, and yet you still helped me support it.

I'll try explaining it point by point for the thinking impaired:

He pointed a gun at her. The make and model of gun is in question. A certain subset of people would rather debate what kind of gun it is instead of discussing the situation that the gun revolved around.

When I say "I don't care what kind of gun it was." I mean that I do not care if he was pointing an AK, a Glock, an M-16, GAU-8A, or a phased plasma gun in the forty watt range at me. The type of gun is secondary to "This man pointed a gun at his child to intimidate her." I like guns. I have guns. Not to the degree that many of you have... but I'm actually rather thankful for that.

If you can tell us where to buy them for $150 like in TFA, I'll buy 10.
That's the price he sold the gun to the gunshop. If you say you can find a gunshop that pays retail prices you'll have to provide proof. They -shops- pay far under market price.

I'm not suprised.

I've been worried that the mania caused by Feinstein an Co.'s pointless, asinine, and over-reaching efforts (combined with paid provacatuer idiots like Beck and Rush) would cause a lot of dumb-asses who would otherwise not bother to run out and go get armed with guns they don;t know the first thing about.

Anywho. Hope this guy sees the inside of a jailcell for a few years. Anyone willing to point a frkking gun at his own family because he got pissed off needs to be taken out of circulation.

This is NOT a responsible gun owner, as is inherently obvious, and anyone aking THAT stupid argument loses an internet. This would be no different than if he had done it with his grandpappy's revolver.

The media will search out every story involving a gun they can find however minor and blow it up into as big a national headline as possible. It's an attempt to portray all gun owners in a negative light thereby marginalizing responsible gun owners and create public support for more restricitve gun laws.

Unless of course it's one of those 2.4 million times a year where someone actually defends themselves with a gun. Those are either completely ignored or don't get beyond local news reporting.

Yes, this guy is an idiot.

Yes, he should be severely punished up to and including the confiscation of all his guns and the loss of his right to ever own guns again.

No, he does not represent all gun owners.

No matter how badly the media wants to portray idiots like him as just that. The more negative gun related stories they can sensationalize every day the more you will hear stupid shiat like "he makes the few dozen responsible gun owners look bad".

The .22lr version, and it was probably a kids AK-47 which is a lot cheaper then the larger ones. Kids AK can go up to 200, regular .22lr one 350-450. The non .22 version can go up to $2500 bux.

That's actually a very good question.....I know they both came out in '84.  I'm off to IMDB....be right back.

....and I'm back.

Gremlins:  8 June 1984

Terminator:  26 October 1984

So there we have it.

Also:

1) IMDB lists him as being in Pulp Fiction as "Monster Joe"  (scrapyard owner), but his scene was deleted.

2) His character in the terminator is listed as "Pawn Shop Clerk".  IIRC, that's wrong....he worked at a gun shop.  Hell, he might have been the owner, seeing as how he could make the call to close early.

/Addicted to IMDB.

I think it would have.

And you're stating that neither of these:

" One receipt was for Bill's Gun Shop, dated Jan. 22, 2013. An employee of the gun shop confirmed Bartashevitch sold an AK-47 style gun -- specifically a 7.62X54R -- for $150.

"The other receipt was for Frontiersman Sport, Inc., also dated Jan. 22, 2013. The gun shop confirmed Bartashevitch sold a newer AK-47 clone rifle -- a Cal-Zastava PAP 70 7.62X39 -- for $375."

is sometimes referred as an AK-47 by gun enthusiasts?

Nina_Hartley's_Ass: is sometimes referred as an AK-47 by gun enthusiasts?

Nothing that sells for $150 and is chambered in 7.62x54R would be called an AK. PSLs and true Dragunovs are usually lumped as Dragunovs and generally run $800 - $1,200. VEPR rifles chambered in 7.62x54R run even more. Even acknowledging that he was selling it to the store, that would have had to have been an epic rip-off for him to only get $150 for it. Especially since he got a reasonable price ($300 something) for the actual AK clone.

Either the 7.62x54R gun wasn't an AK type, wasn't actually chambered in 7.62x54R or he got taken for an epic ride by the gun store.

But isn't that the point - remove the white wash? Gun owners say that any limits will punish responsible guns owners without acknowledging just how many gun crimes are committed by people who were law-abiding right up until they pulled a weapon in anger or actually killed someone with one. It's not anti-second amendment to acknowledge that as members of a civil society we have obligations that come with our rights - and one of those obligations is to regulate that which kills and hurts more innocent americans than it saves.

Stop pretending that unless we can end gang gun crime we won't put a dent in the problem. Law-abiding gun owners turn their guns on people too. You know the, 'wow, he was such a nice guy/kid, I never thought he was the type to do X'.

By all means, keep your guns, it's your right to live in an armed camp, but for the love of gaia and all her little wizards at least entertain the idea that safe storage and background checks for all purchases private and public are reasonable limits that preserve other people's right to life and liberty, without taking away your right to bear arms.

you pull a gun on your kid for a bad report card and it shouldn't matter if it's a felony on not - all guns should go never to return, and you should need to find somewhere else to live. (He sold the one he used before the cops came).

Mugato: Since this is the latest in the dozen gun law threads for today, I'll post this here. Of all the proposed laws in the new package, I haven't heard one argument against the closing of the loophole that lets you buy any gun at a gun show without any papers or background checks.

/except "there takin' r guns!" of course

The main focus is the "ban" on weapons.  My theory is this: They will remove the ban, but keep in background checks.

Rachel Maddow pointed out that a majority of republicans support a lot of measures, but not the outright ban of weapons.

To be Pedantic, no, an AK-47 wasn't involved... or else he would have gotten a whole heck of a lot more than $300ish.

All I'm saying is that with the information at hand, the identity of the second firearm in question can't be pinned down as to being another AK type due to some obvious questions about the value of the firearm and it's chambering.

All of which is just an exercise in accurate reporting and does nothing to diminish the fact that the father needs to have his balls slammed in a car door and should never be allowed around a firearm ever again.

You know, Rock Salt won't really kill you, but it'll sure act as an effective behavioral modifier.

At any rate, and in all seriousness, this is insane. What responsible gun owner, let alone decent human parent, would threaten their OWN CHILD with a rifle. Period. At the very least, it's the basic definition of emotional abuse, and probably an indicator that something else non-kosher is going on in the house.

People like this need to be beat upside the head (Sorry, your rights end where my nose begins logic on this one. You do not have the right to threaten a CHILD with a rifle because of their freakin' report card) and be mandated to seek mental health evaluation and care.

llachlan: Stop pretending that unless we can end gang gun crime we won't put a dent in the problem.

Putting an end to the problem is all that matters.

After spending a few billion in law enforcement, background checking, and media shilling for an AWB, voters will not be any happier if the next shooter who steals a gun uses one from Feinstein's approved list of "Good" weapons. We already experienced that after Columbine, which was entirely unaffected by magazine limits or feature bans.
It really sucks to make sacrifices for a solution and still not get it.

As a society the US got along with no firearm regulation for the better part of two centuries.
Now that we've spawned all these laws, the problem only seems to be getting worse.
At some point you have to ask the politicians if what they are doing really works. Because the question was how best to put a stop to rampage killings, not how best to infringe on everyone's rights.
"Saving one life" won't make people very happy. Finding the root cause of the problem will.

/We already know how to stop gangs and drug related crime.
/The fact that no one in politics wants to listen is not the fault of gun owners.
