He's from Georgia.

So no.

The way things are going?  His name had massive staying power, but now his name won't be on the ballot.  Atlanta isn't nearly as red as the rest of the state, and the GOP is outdoing itself in its voter exclusion movement.  I mean it's a slim chance, but it's much greater than zero.

He will most likely be replaced by one of our do nothing gop house members.  Probably one of the creationists. Saxby looked out for himself and his rich buddies and that was about it.  Thank FSM he's leaving but I doubt if it will be an improvement.

The optics of THAT won't be all screwy.

"See, we have this guy - used to be in the Marine Corps, then he was a Congressman from Florida who got voted out for being a retarded cumsock. He's a loyal McCarthian soldier, and we want him and his WHARGARBL around in Congress, so how do we do it?"
"I know! Send him a few hundred miles up I-95 and have him run for Senate in Georgia!"

// in a just world, Max Cleland would kick this guy's ass out the door
// Max is too classy, and Saxby ain't worth the wear on his boot-sole
// I'd put West's odds at 26%

This man is a master of double speak.

Instead, this is about frustration, both at a lack of leadership from the White House and at the dearth of meaningful action from Congress, especially on issues that are the foundation of our nation's economic health. The debt-ceiling debacle of 2011 and the recent fiscal-cliff vote showed Congress at its worst and, sadly, I don't see the legislative gridlock and partisan posturing improving anytime soon. For our nation to be strong, for our country to prosper, we cannot continue to play politics with the American economy.

Alright. He helped create the gridlock and is gonna quit because of it. I'm sure there is a seat for him on some lobbyist group or Thinktank somewhere. But reading this line, and knowing that Boehner and Turtle have decided to oppose Obama on everything over the next '22 months', I find this next line pretty revealing that his last line is bullsh*.t

There are two years left in my term, and there is lots left to do. I am in good health, and I plan to continue working hard to represent the best interests of Georgians, and to do my utmost to help restore America to its economic greatness.

His words are sugar, his actions suggest he's full of something else.

lol good point, will be hard to top. But if anyone is going to up the derp its someone like him.

Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.) left the door open to launching a primary challenge against Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.) in 2014.

And, to add to how wonderful this is...remember, the only people crazier and harder to work with than veteran Republicans are freshman Republicans. You just wait, his replacement will be even worse than he is.

As mentioned above, there's a small chance. It's certainly an uphill climb, but Romney won Georgia by 8% - better than McCain, but still not an insurmountable margin for a Senate race. A Blue Dog Democrat in Georgia has the potential, especially if up against an Akin-like Tea Party candidate, to flip the seat.

2013-01-25 03:52:20 PM
Look, there wouldn't be all this gridlock if the democrats could understand that America wants them to agree with republicans on everything.

Even in Georgia, a Richard Mourdock or Todd Akin type will struggle.

With a new freshman Republican in congress, maybe now is the right time to have a serious national discussion about how home economics classes in high school are turning boys into gays.

//what? I haven't seen that one yet. Dude, there is no bottom to the tea party rabbit hole.

Paul Broun laughs at this concept. And sneers at people who think that the world is older than 9,000 years.
