Dear Republicans:

So long as you keep incredibly stupid shiat like this up, please stop getting outraged when the rest of us tell you that you don't understand how money works. Because clearly, you don't. And this is Exhibit #1 as to why you shouldn't be allowed control of a $10 piggybank, much less a state or national economy.

Thanks,

Those of us who DO understand how money works

I stockpiled Geoffrey Dollars against just such an eventuality.

Virginia takes pride in having its own culture and history, its own unique way of doing business.

Uh .... okay.

But does the commonwealth also need its own money?

Maybe so, says Del. Robert Marshall (R-Prince William), who is pushing a bill in the General Assembly that would mandate a study of whether the state "should adopt an alternate medium of commerce or currency to serve as an alternative to the currency distributed by the Federal Reserve System in the event of a major breakdown of the Federal Reserve System."

This. Is. Bullsh*t. It is a way to funnel money to some friends or business associates.

I hope the taxpayers of Virginia are happy with the way their representatives are wasting spending their tax dollars.

2013-01-25 02:40:22 PM
Constitutionally, it can only be gold or silver. If they want to do that, go ahead.

2013-01-25 02:41:02 PM
Since it's by that party the money is being backed by rape

2013-01-25 02:41:08 PM
And liberals should be create a new state militia to round all those bastards up and line them up on the wall.

2013-01-25 02:42:03 PM
I gotta admire their moxie. Somehow, the currency backed by the full faith and credit of the federal government of the United States won't be enough, but Virginia -- surely the greatest of the 50 states -- will be trustworthy in the eyes of the world.

Because the suburban office parks in Fairfax do business way differently than the suburban office parks in Charlotte.

Yeesh. Even the states are becoming precious and unique snowflakes.

When I lived in Mississippi in the 1990s, my parents in Virginia sent my son, who was in fourth or fifth grade at time, some money on his birthday. His friend replied, "Gosh, Virginia money looks just like Mississippi money."

Oddly, occupy san francisco was demanding that people should have the right to print their own money. Still a bad idea, no matter which side brings it up.
