I suspected this would involve Troy Smith somehow. I'd forgotten that he's been on both teams though.

God DAMMIT Subby! I've had it with these misleading headlines. Every time I see one and I think they can't get any worse I see something like this... and it totally makes it worth it.

2008? Really? Why bother submitting this much less greenlighting it?

unless they win the Superbowl it was a bad decision.

To remind us how these interesting coaching decisions come up and continue to be successful. This one especially because of the fact they are brothers.

RTFA much?: "OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- Baltimore coach John Harbaugh has named rookie Joe Flacco the Ravens' starting quarterback for the rest of the season.

The announcement came as former Heisman Trophy winner Troy Smith, who had been expected to compete for the starting job, finally returned from a severe tonsil infection that had sidelined him since training camp.

Whether Smith would again compete for the starting job once he returned had been an open question. But Harbaugh said Smith will be the third quarterback behind backup Todd Bouman this week against the Indianapolis Colts, and will eventually compete with Bouman for the No. 2 spot on the depth chart.

"Troy is working full-speed ahead as a healthy quarterback this week really for the first time, which is exciting and great news for us," Harbaugh said.

There are STILL morons in Baltimore that think Troy Smith should have had and would still have the starting job. One even said the Ravens would have already had a Ring by now...

To be fair, the did win a ring with Dilfer under center. By that logic, really any QB could win one with them.

I was responding to Arkanaut since he was specifically talking about the 49ers. I guess it's a bit confusing the way I worded it, but Troy played under Singletary on the 49ers. He never played under Jim Harbaugh.

Does that clear things up for you?

This Superbowl features 2 top 10 QBs. Both play for the 49ers.

With the coaching history of both teams in the 2000s you made that plenty confusing.

So, to make it even more confusing, what does Mike Singletary have to do with the Ravens? When I made my statement, I had assumed that people would be able to put 1 and 1 together. Obviously that is not the case.

Should Flacco falter next Sunday I hope they make a move to get a 'backup' who 'is a winner'

Yeah I wanted to make up a mock one on the site and found it odd you couldn't put Tebow on a personalized Ravens jersey. Shocking how petty the No Fun League is about such shenanigans.

NFL shop rules for customization

Guidelines for Customization
League player names must match current team rosters and the team for which they currently play
Retired player names cannot be printed on the team's jersey from which they retired
Both adult and youth jerseys hold up to 10 characters
Characters accepted: capital A-Z (name field only); 0-9 (number field only); spaces
Each space counts as one (1) character
Language deemed inappropriate, derogatory, or profane will not be accepted
If your selection does not meet all of the above criteria you will be prompted to start over

His first coaching job was with the Ravens. Of course he had nothing to do with quarterbacks.
