(Talking Points Memo)   A pair of Republican mustaches in Mississippi have proposed a mustache to keep the federal mustache in its place, and are laying out a mustache to create a Joint Committee on the Growing of Mustaches. Wait, sorry, that's not it at all   (tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsmemo.com) divider line 79

So, no more tax subsidies going to MS businesses or people then.  I'd give it six weeks after the money spigot is turned off before they hastily reverse this decision.

Great, so we'll just move all this federal funding to a more deserving state. Like New jersey.

Here's a list of some of the 2,791 DoD contractors in Mississippi:
Huntington Ingalls Industries, Inc. (Pascagoula and Gulfport)Lockheed Martin Space Systems Co. (Stennis Space Center)Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Co. (Meridian)Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems (Ocean Springs)Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems (Moss Point)Raytheon Technical Services (Stennis Space Center)Rolls-Royce (Pascagoula and Stennis Space Center)SAIC (Long Beach and Stennis Space Center)SELEX Galileo, a Finmeccanica Company (Kiln)United Technologies/Pratt & Whitney-Rocketdyne Propulsion (Stennis Space Center)Those Mississippi contractors received $34,033,099,375 in federal contracts from 2010-2011.

$30,000,000,000 of that was for strategic mustache purposes.

Just wait until Mississippi learns to read and actually reviews Article 1, as well as Article 3, and the copious amounts of case law, and U.S. history that will open up to them once they've mastered that all important literacy skill.

Also prohibit any Federal contracts or money going to any business located or headquartered in Mississippi. Immediate closer of all military bases in the state as well.

Has Mississippi ever been on the right side of history?

FTA: Numerous experts and historians consulted by the newspaper ridiculed the measure.

That about sums it up.

Because "Patriot" and "Sovereignty" movements are really White Supremacy movements in disguise?

No. It's our country. If they don't like it, they should GTFO and go to a nation that fits their values. I heard Putin is giving citizenship to anyone with money. Given how productive they are, I'm sure they're already rich and will fit in there fine!

It's creepier than that. All the forerunners of the modern conservative movement are anti-democracy fascists. American Bund, early American Legion, John Birch Society, Harlan Carter's takeover of the NRA, US Chamber of Commerce, KKK, Father Coughlin, and many many more. They hate democracy, because it gives power to the underclass. Or at least it's supposed to.

This is just another example of Teabaggers engaged in purely symbolic activities that dramatizes their conservative credentials while never having a chance in hell of actually being put into action. There's a movement afoot to deny US Congressmen their pay if they indulge in pointless stuff like this, but I think it would be much more effective at the state level, where people actually depend on their salaries. "The representative's proposed legislation is in blatant breach of the 'Waste of Time Act of 2013.' I move he be docked a month's pay."

Better yet, if they violate the 'Waste of Time Act of 2013,' they get sent to Mississippi.

Rep. Mustache: There are times when we're fifty states and there are times when we're one country, and have national needs. And the way I know this is that Mississippi didn't fight Germany in World War II or establish civil rights. You think states should do the governing wall-to-wall. That's a perfectly valid opinion. But your state of Mississippi got $12.6 billion in federal money last year - from Nebraskans, and Virginians, and New Yorkers, and Alaskans, with their Eskimo poetry. 12.6 out of a state budget of $50 billion. I'm supposed to be using this time for a question, so here it is: Can we have it back, please?

/obligatory
//not remotely obscure

At least the guy in Texas reading from the same script went on to say he knew it was unconstitutional, his real aim was to weaken or destroy the US Constitution.

Somewhere in DC, they just sprung for a crate of pencils to pencil in that guy on a few no fly lists given no adult American could have escaped taking an oath to defend the same Contitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic.

He has represented the 39th District since 1992. Smith switched from the Democratic Party to the Republicans on June 1, 2011. Smith told reporters that he decided to become a Republican because the Republicans had recruited a candidate to run against him in the upcoming election for House Speaker.[1]
Smith earned his B.S. and J.D. degrees from Mississippi State University, and was a prosecutor for Lowndes County from 1980-1989.[2]

So he knows better, he's just being a giant douche-stache.

Not to mention Article VI. The "no religious test" clause in there will give them a bonus seizure if the aneurism from the Federal Supremacy clause doesn't kill them outright.
