Non-Daily Mail source? I have doubts that Menendez or the Dominican Republic even exist if they're claiming it.

2013-01-25 01:51:04 PM
Ask Rush Limbaugh to confirm or deny it. He ought to know.

2013-01-25 01:51:46 PM
There is something fishy ... Are those emails real (I clicked onto the site)? Why won't the witness come forward and meet? Way too many questions. I'd like to see more facts than what was on the Daily Caller and a site made up in the last 24 hours. Right now it sounds more like a smear campaign. Of course, this being NJ, nothing surprises me.

Prostitution is legal in the Dominican Republic but the legal age of consent is 18.

These are the kinds of facts that need to be in Frommer's.

How would he know? Menendez allegedly hired girls.

Rush Limbaugh unavailable for comment.

young ladies

Nevermind - Limbaugh's experience wouldn't be germane anyway.

Underaged hookers are probably on the lowest rung of the economic scale and probably have the money extorted from them by pimps. So I'd call that trickle-up economics.

Menendez has always been a strong advocate for youth employment, so this isn't a surprise.

If Sen. Menedez is guilty he should indeed be hung out to dry, but so far these accusations are unsupported and essentially anonymous. Whatever the actual facts, the Senator deserves to face his accusers and the FBI agent in question should not have released any information until he was more certain of his facts.

Sex scandals are truly bipartisan.  No matter what a politician's philosophy of government or anything else, some of them will believe that their power gives them a license to fark whoever they like without fear of consequences - and contrariwise, any politician has enemies that would love to hang a sex scandal albatross around their neck on the flimsiest of evidence.

Democrats shouldn't rush to defend Menendez unconditionally until more facts are in (see also Anthony Weiner, Bill Clinton), and Republicans shouldn't be too quick to gloat about their moral superiority if he  is guilty (see also Larry Craig, David Vitter).

The one thing I'll say about the case right now, concurring with clambam, is this:  Some sex scandals are ambiguous as to whether the offense justifies ending the politician's career in office; this isn't one of them.  Underage prostitution and sex tourism is unambiguously something no one should tolerate.   If he's convicted, he should resign, and if he refuses to resign, Senate Democrats should join Republicans in voting to expel him (by the requisite two-thirds vote per Article I section 5).  If he's not convicted, it should be between him and the people of New Jersey.

That's the difference though. Republicans run on the super family values, holier than thou, platform.

I thought everyone just kinda assumed Democrats were farking around on their spouses(and this guy is divorced), given that's the stereotype Bill and JFK left us with.

And I rescind my previous "Rush keeps strange company overseas". I missed that Menendez may be being investigated for sex with 16 year old female prostitutes.

I draw the Line at listening to women talk about their day. As I portent as pussy is, it's not that important.

Mithiwithi: sex tourism is unambiguously something no one should tolerate.

Sex tourism includes people that travel to rural Nevada or Amsterdam or other places for the purpose of giving consenting adults money in exchange for sex.
It even includes people that travel somewhere to have sex where money isn't exchanged (swinger's conventions, etc).

I disagree with the part of your statement that I quoted above.

Well, I've never heard of anything about Rush's Great Dominican Republic Adventure beyond being caught with someone else's Viagra prescription, and in particular never any actual specifics about exactly what he might have been using the Viagra for.  (I never heard that Limbaugh himself offered any credible explanation for the Viagra, but there are any number of things he might not want to admit to that aren't underage boys.)
