Thanks prickly pete v2, I was going to point out these were just castle posers. Castle magic has real castles for sale. Some day I'll win the lottery & be able to get 1.

It isn't a castle in my book unless it is made of stone and you can defend it with swords and bows when wildly outnumbered by people with swords and bows...or at least has a murder hole.

392Zaphod: Article Title: 19 Castle Homes You Can Actually Buy

yea... no farker can actually buy a 38 million dollar mansion :P

When I clicked the link, all I saw were a bunch of trashed-out pup tents from Goodwill. And I can't even afford a pup! Misleading headline is misleading!

I have a friend of the family who is selling a castle home. It is in a remote area of West Virginia, built many years ago by a wealthy man to harbor his mistress. It has been owned by a very nice woman for many years. She's too old to care for it.

It is wondrous home with towers and hobbit doors. I loved the place since I first saw it as a kid. It now needs extensive work including having virtually the whole foundation raised. I am not very handy, but still I had to visit the place to be sure that I could live without owning it. I could swing buying it, but I don't think I could swing fixing it.

For $35 million you could just buy a Medieval Times

You'll live like the Fresh Prince in this Bel Air neighborhood home with three bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, a library, media center, gym, pool, and an apartment for live-in staff.

3 BD and 10 BTH .... ok I guess maybe the owner suffers from incurable and severe IBS.

This one is a lot more authentic than most of those. It's right across from my house.

It's CHEAP! At least it is by Toronto standards, where it's hard to find something that big for 4 million, forgetting all about the castle part.

I was shocked by how little most of those houses cost. A 5000 sq ft house for under $1million? Unheard of up here.

Spanky McStupid: miniflea: Did anyone else see the episode of doomsday peppers where the guy was building a 'castle' that has walls a single cinderblock wide and very large ground level windows? The moron was going on and on about how when civilization collapses it will be just like medieval times and I wanted to reach through my screen and strangle him. Also, during a thunderstorm the electrical system completely failed and he had no idea what to do. The guy was preparing for an EMP.

No wonder I missed that episode; I watched the doomsday papers - d'oh!

In my defense, the autocorrect on my phone sometimes changes properly spelled words into other words it thinks I meant to type. Although with the number of idiots who equate manliness with how much capsaicin they can shove down their faces, maybe I'm on to something.

Meanwhile, my hometown castle is uninhabitable, and unfortunately not quite on the Rhine. This WAS a real castle, but is now ruins of a castle.

There is a house like this down the road from me. I have always wondered who lives there and why. The house has never been for sale in the 30+ years that I have seen it.

Looks terrible. Some of the pillars look plastic, making it resemble a dollhouse.

When your house is huge, a bathroom is never close enough. The real trouble is keeping TP in all of them.

prickly pete v2: Those aren't castles. These are castles.

That's really cool. They really need a better website, though.

i noticed this too. i think the idea is to be able to entertain a bunch of people.

imagine attending a massive party and not having to wait for a bathroom the following morning. my next home may not be a castle, but there will be twenty bathrooms at least. and a dance floor.

Yes, it was a good pinball game, and it came out around the same time as Army of Darkness which had to help its popularity.
