Doctor who?

2013-01-25 01:18:25 PM
who?

2013-01-25 01:19:04 PM
It's crazy that someone, at that age with no prior criminal record, would just snap in the course of their work like that and do something so heinous.

not worth much but I won

He'll be back.

He was untrained, didn't know what species he was to exterminate.

Yea, I'm sorry I said that.

My grandfather was a successfull politician in a southern, very religious state, for thirty years, before he shot my grandmother in the face and himself on the ear. It;s a disease Don't look for explanations.

At least it wasn't war.

My wife went to college with the victim.  Having heard my wife relay stories about her this week, she was by all accounts an amazingly talented and caring soul.  This crime has had me unable to snark -- a first.

Also, I've never said a single nice thing about Philadelphia or its residents in my life.  But in this case, I tip my hat to Philly PD, who did some amazing police work to catch this guy within 48 hours of the crime.

He's just too good at his job.

Phildelphia? The locals hate it when you call it that.

Here's a more detailed article about the crime,  here's one about how they caught the guy, and here's a good story about Dr. Ketunuti.  Finally, here's her (somewhat outdated)  blog.

For a second I missed the Dalek reference, but my first thought seeing the picture on the link is the dude looks like The Master.

You can't keep a good Dalek down - or a bad one either. Personally, I'm more scared of the Weeping Angels.

While the Angel idea is really cool on the surface, it doesn't stand up to scrutiny. Or at least, the whole "they're invincible when they're stone" part just doesn't work.

"Here, you two keep an eye on that statue while I fire up the jackhammer."

Angels are quantum locked - they technically don't exist when you look at them. They can be starved of time energy - and degrade, though.

And honestly of all the willing suspensions of disbelief on that show, I find the Weeping Angels are one of the easiest to just go with.

I'll take a weeping angel over a cyberman every day. Yeah, weeping angels are creepy and displace you in time, but cybermen rip out your f*cking brain, without anasthetic, cut off all the 'human' connectors and slap it in a killbot body.

Thanks, but no. Put me in plague-infested England, but I'll keep my brain where it is, thanks

THIS! One of the really interesting parts of the 'new' Doctor Who was how they actually made Cyberman truly scary (for once).

Enh, I thought they were pretty damn scary in Adric's farewell episode. That may have been the only time.

I am glad to see that the new "parallel universe" Cybermen aren't allergic to gold dust though. Not so much as a sly reference to that little quirk.

/not a huge fan of John Simm as the Master
//they shoulda kept Derek Freaking Jacobi on for that role
///man I miss Roger Delgado

another reason why arming yourself to the teeth for 'protection from intruders' is more feel good myth than science. She could've been the poster child of the NRA and have 10 AR-15s in the house and it wouldn't have mattered in this case.

Okay - I'll give you that. Cybermen > Weeping Angels
The Cyberking was lame though.

She was strangled to death. If she had a pistol on her, which I do wear mine concealed when letting strange laborers into my home, she certainly could have defended herself.
