From experience, it is a very bad idea to have a place in the house where the cat can go that you cannot reach into. It's bad enough that we have a king-sized bed! One of our cats is hyper-nervous and is amazingly telepathic when it comes to going to the vet. Plus if a cat is sick it may go somewhere quiet and out of the way to be alone. By definition that will be somewhere you cannot reach.

So while this is cool (for the cat-crazy), I think you would regret it.

That's actually kind of cool.

I lived with a girl a few years ago and we had six cats. We were "the cute couple down the street with all the cats." We soon broke up, I moved out and now she's "the crazy lady with all the cats."

Least she still has her cats. And they say cats aren't loyal?

No one can be told when Caturday is. You have to see it for yourself.

Clothing for dogs adapted (poorly) for cats.

(They were a gift. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.)

If I had the room I would create a cat room just for my cats, a place full of stuff like this.

Just make sure that every elevated place can be reached with the help of a chair or step stool and make sure no tunnel is longer than your arm and it should be fine.

All true, but still, it looks like a lot of fun. And those cats all seemed lively and interested in what's going on - instead of just bored - like my cat.

If it were five instead of six, you'd be talking about me. I learned my lesson. I haven't lived with a guy since.

So what I got from this article is that a house made for cats basically involves putting up cheak IKEA shelves, and then not putting stuff on said shelves.

Honestly, if I had a cat in my house, this would be kind of cool.

That house was for people who like cats, not crazy cat ladies. *This* house, on the other hand...

The cats wouldn't know the difference between a walkway and a kitchen counter and that would freak me out. I would end up spending all my money on lipstick.

As a renter, "where can I put the cat box" definitely factors in to my decision on whether or not to rent a place. A much-wealthier friend who just bought a house last year said it was damn near to #1 on her list of "must haves."

/Her cats are now pooping in boxes located in the private yet spacious tiled laundry room of an expensive 2010 Parade of Homes house.
//Damn. I just realized that other peoples' cats have a nicer bathroom than I do.

Already been dome. "The Ultimate Guide: House Cats", which aired back in the early 2000's or so, had a middle-age American couple who owned 11 cats and turned their house into a surreal cat-land with skywalks through almost every room (little tunnels in the walls connected the rooms), ladders and stairs connecting the skywalks to the floor, and a lot of cat statues and masks.

Looked pretty cool, actually. The cats loved it.

In NO WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM is my mother allowed to read this article. She became a vet tech during her mid life crisis just so she could get paid to pet cats.

I refuse to be her enabler with this.
