I make a noise complaint against my neighbor, and the police send one cop who doesn't address the noise issue. Someone sees a naked guy in the snow, and 30 cops are sent?

To prevent a suicide, yes. Seems reasonable.

Twice that many police plus all the local firefighters and EMS workers would have come out if the call had been for a naked woman

It doesn't look like there is any snow in TFA picture.

See, now that problem there usually resolves itself without any need for further intervention.

Maybe the resident was afraid that he'd run in the house, trash it, jerk off and poop in it like the naked guy in yesterdays thread did.

It had to have come across the radio in such a way as to be mistaken as a naked women in the snow.

Fastest way to get someone with hypothermia to a hospital is with a heliopter.

The fark is wrong with yo' brain, man?

"Someone is being loud"

vs

"Someone is in a lethal situation."

Bath salts?

Not laughing as last year someone killed themselves by doing that in the woods opposite my house. He had a terminal illness. It's very isolated here and they didn't find him for days. Was deep snow and very cold (-20c). Worth sending people out to find the guy imo.

A suicidal, disoriented guy is threatening to jump in a freezing river, and police made some effort to check on his welfare?

The horror!

Came here to say this, leaving happily.

"Naked Guy in the Snow" can mean anything. You assume to worst until you can confirm it's just someone being an idiot. And even idiots can die of hypothermia.

FTA:
Mrs Shiers added: "I heard the man wanted to jump into the river. Apparently he had taken his clothes off and a person who saw him had tried to persuade him to put them on because it was cold.
"I think it's really sad, we just want to know he's alright."

while the caller claimed it was a young man, responders sometimes have to find someone who wandered away from an assisted living center. people suffering from poor mental health can easily get into very dangerous situations, it happens.

Was it a fat hairy pasty guy with moobs? That might warrant such a response.

Ah yes, brings back memories of wintertime rental homes, and jumping out of the hot tub to make anatomically-correct snow angels. Then your skin feels all prickly.

Why does this warrant a scary tag?  You realize that the police are also tasked with locating missing persons, right?  The guy was walking around, naked, in the snow.  Anything less than a full-scale search effort to find the person and (potentially) save his life, would have been inappropriate.

Deep Contact: Bath salts?

About 20 years ago, I went to visit my parents during a snow storm.  As I drove down their street and came to their driveway, I saw a completely naked and barefoot man slowly walking in the snow.  I called the police and waited in my car for them to arrive and they never came.

I was thinking he was stoned on PCP.

Sooo, did you follow up or just ignored the man? You don't know if it was really drugs. He could've just escaped from a serial killer's house or a married woman's bedroom.
