yobbery:
This is easy to do if you have an older HP that you can configure via telnet. We'd do stuff similar to this on random printers at work, then sit and wait for the call.
[i211.photobucket.com image 525x700]
I imagine this trick exists on other printers as well. Nobody *ever* resets the admin password, so access is a no brainer.

I laughed so hard, my dog almost fell off the bed.

tigerose: Gremlin1 ouch! Take some type of anti-inflammatory as well as icing down your limbs. I have whacked my knee like that, and it is quite stunningly painful. I hope it feels better soon. ((Hug))

Due to youthful injuries(broken ankle and dislocated kneecap) I've been down this road before many times and will be again. I've learned if I'm going to fall I always land on the left knee first because it's the weakest and goes out first, I try not to but sometimes I can't twist enough to stop it. Someday the knee will get replaced but I keep putting it off.
Jack is attached to me like velcro when I get up to limp anywhere and he makes sure that Gremie can't get underfoot and trip me.
I do have some drugs around the house and I have taken some. I'm just glad I already did my grocery shopping otherwise I'd be limping around the store 'cuz we were almost out of cat and dog food.

SkerriNinja: I lost my sweet, cantankerous Fat Cat on Monday. We believe he had a heart attack sometime during the night on Sunday. Monday morning, he was breathing heavily, and could not get comfortable anywhere. He would lie down for a few minutes, then suddenly pop up, and make his way to another spot. The vet said he had a lot of fluid in his chest, and being 15 and a half years old was not making it easy. She said that it was unlikely that he would make it through a chest tap. So we said our goodbyes.

I've never had a cat that lived beyond 6 or 7 years, so this was very hard. I've had Fat Cat since he was about 3 days old, eyes not opened, abandoned by mama under a bush in the yard. He fit in the palm of my hand, and lived long enough to make it all the way to a whopping 27 pounds at one point. (Finally got him back to a healthier 14 pounds over the last two years. Pop was a Maine Coon that roamed the neighborhood and loved the ladies, and his Mom was a tiny stray little black cat that was probably too young to raise a litter in the first place. We never saw her again.)

And poor Gomez, his "brother from another mother", is wandering the house, yowling and staring. I feel so bad for him.

But in a few days, we will be hitting the local shelter. Hubby, who has NEVER liked cats and only tolerated mine as they were a package deal, has admitted that his heart has a hole that might only be healed by another kitty. So there's that.

I'm so sorry :(

We just lost this little girl. Same as in TFA. Her eyes were completely crusted shut and she had pneumonia. Lots of antibiotics and care, but in the end she just wouldn't eat.
Sometimes we are only able to make the short time they have comfortable.

QFT.

We took in a litter of kittens from someone on Craigslist who claimed they "found" them, said they were 8 weeks old. We got them and they were 6 weeks tops, probably less. We had the for a couple weeks, found them all good homes, except for one, a little orange & white boy. He never ate as much as the others, wasnt as active. When my wife took the last couple to a new home he got real weak. When she got home with him he was almost completely limp. I got a blanket and reclined in my chair, wrapped him up and sat with him on my chest. I sat there and talked to him, he purred until he couldnt anymore, then he passed away. It was the saddest thing I have ever seen. I dont know how his life started, but he was cared for and loved at the end of it...

It was about 2 years ago and still brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it. What made it even worse is we had decided to keep him since he was the last without a home...

Alright, I haven't posted here in a while, but I have some sad news. We put Zeus to sleep last week. (Last Caturday, actually, although I wasn't really in the mood to post anything about it then.) He'd had urinary tract blockage, and couldn't really go to the bathroom without the help of the vet. It was a difficult decision, but we decided to do it rather than put him through the daily ordeal of have the catheter put in.

He was 13, and we'd had him since he was 6 months old. He didn't always get along with the other cats we'd had during that time, and in fact he used to pick on them although he did that less as he got older. He was very affectionate, and of course loved to get in the middle of whatever you were doing.

Here are some pictures from a year or two ago:

Anybody seen this: Kitty shell game
Cat finds the ball 3 times out of 3, apparently without training.
Is this their superior visual processing and prey tracking at work?

/someone please opine. my whole family is wondering.

We were "played" by our vets, and waited too long.

My brother lost his awesome German Shepard this week. Meena was a cool dog. She got along well with his cats and their new daughter, but still barked like a K-9 unit anytime a stranger was within 10 feet of his house. She was only 7, got a tumor in her pancreas. She made it through the surgery, but only lasted another month. She will be missed.
