Yeah, I try not to talk about the dark side of doing this . Caturday isn't the place but it's a reality and not talking about it isn't really healthy.

Anyway, I've been watching Trailer Park Boys again thanks to Netflix. I only ever saw the first two seasons on BBCA.

While looking at stuff I found this video which is about the character who would later become Bubbles.
It's interesting that they developed him first. As you would expect , there are several four letter words that some people have problems with, but it's worth watching.

Finally home from work! Yay! Eli greeted me at the door. He was out of crunchies.

RWDA holy cats! Good thing GoGo had the sense to "take you down". And that there were people around to get to you quickly. Hope they find out what is going on, and fix it!

Professional_Vampire stubborn hubby should at least call his doctor and tell him what happened. There is a condition, where guys will faint after relieving themselves. It's a blood pressure thing. Hubby did it, landed in the bathtub! Not injured by whew! scary. Doc might want to do a blood draw. Good thing you can do it for him! :)

laulaja how did your doctor appt go? Was it for your illness? So much nasty crud going around! One of my co workers was looking absolutely green by the end of the day. Hopefully I won't catch what she has.

Tigerose - yup, vasovagal syncope. It's also triggered by having blood drawn and lots of other things, so I have seen it and do suspect that's what it was. He's got a cardiologist appointment for Friday the 1st - it was time for him to make one anyway to get a new script for his BP meds. Men! So stubborn about seeing the Dr.

The problem, if you're a man, is that after a certain age there is always the possibility that the doctor wants to shove something up your a**.  Even if you like that sort of thing, you don't like your doctor doing it, so we men avoid doctors if at all possible.

predle: Real Women Drink Akvavit: predle: Real Women Drink Akvavit: Gentle Caturdayians,

I am so sorry for what you're going through.

It looks like you live in California and you probably already know about the California Rx Card Link, you get discounts on lots of prescription drugs. It's run by the state for anyone who is a resident and it's free. We have it here and sometimes it's made it possible for me to get meds I couldn't afford otherwise.

I had never heard of that at all. Thanks for the link! I'm definitely going to create myself a card right now. I'll probably  have to pay cash for the doc appointment I have on Tuesday, but any break I can get on meds is definitely going to help. I've never in my life had to apply for any kind of help, so I really am not sure what resources are out there for people. Animals, sure. I can always  find help for a critter. People though, including myself? Not so much good at  that.

I work in home health care so would love to help but I'm afraid I couldn't handle the commute.

Have you talked to someone at the hospital, most hospitals have a patient representative that helps people with this and could be a great source for any available help. Also most hospitals will reduce costs for people without insurance.

When you do see the doctor if you get any really expensive meds ask if there are any comparable less expensive ones, a pharmacist may be some help with this too, but of course you would have to talk to the doctor about any changes. Sometimes doctors use the 'latest and greatest' when there is something that's been around a while and is generic that's a lot cheaper.

Dr. Lucy would help but unfortunately she lost her medical license because she kept hiding from all her patients
[farm8.staticflickr.com image 640x480]

You might want to see if the hospital has a Hill-Burton program (I'm thinking its national but it might just be an Ohio thing). Its bases your bill on your income and what not, kind of like a sliding scale. if you're below a certain amt, they waive almost all of the bill (might be a copay but $100 is a lot better than $10000).

Also mention to the MD you will be paying cash on Tuesday. Some MDs are now offering discounted rates to those who agree to pay the entire bill in cash up front instead of having to mess with insurance and billing.

For the past 30 years coontil 2010) I made it a point to get complete yearly physicals. The last physical I had was March 2010 which led to this...
i211.photobucket.com
Three days after my last physical I got a call at 10:00pm from my doctor telling me that something showed up on x-ray that she was nearly positive was lung cancer. The risk of collapse from biopsy was too risky and they were so sure it was cancer that they decided to just remove it along with roughly a third of my right lung. Fortunately it turned out to be scar tissue from a rare form of pneumonia I didn't even know I had. Thinking of physicals since then just gives me anxiety, and I've been (stupidly) putting it off.

I recently had a pre-op chest x-ray for my jaw surgery that was clear, so I figure it's a good time to get back into the yearly physical routine. I see my doc on February 7th and the only anxiety I have now is regarding the scolding she's going to give me for not seeing her since my lung surgery (and for the 30 pounds or so that I've gained.) At least she can no longer biatch at me for smoking.

/The picture above was taken at home three days after my surgery. Coughing was very painful for the first four days or so, but other than that it was surprisingly painless (the pain meds did their job!).
//Never had any breathing problems until they did this. Now I get an annoying wheeze every once in a while.

Yup, now Dragon wants to know where his heating pad is. I tried explaining to him that we had no heat since the electric was out, the heating pad would not work either. He was... displeased.

Or...if you want to be less destructive and drive him nuts, just pour 1/2 quart of oil under his truck every other day.
We did this to a co-worker after he got his car out of the shop. He took it back to the shop three or four times before he caught us. His mechanic thought is was a great prank...him, not so much.

Luckily I don't have any health care horror stories. I just got my bill for my recent colonoscopy, $2800 of care for a $75 co-pay. 5 years ago I had spine surgery, that was only a $100 co-pay for what ended up being a 4 day hospital stay. I'm glad I can afford decent insurance!

Now as for why we're here - cats. Jack and Cisco just had a catnip moment together, they are now under the dining room table playing whack'em.

And finally, Q_J!!!! WHERE do you come up with with this stuff????? Anti-seize on a windshield??????

It's not anti-sieze. It's an oxidation inhibiting compound. It's used on aluminum wire, especially large
service entrance cables in electrical service panels.

Aluminum will oxidize if it's exposed to air for long periods. On service conductors, that
increases their resistance and causes them to get warm and expand. When the load drops,
the exposed cable contracts and will eventually result in sparks and possibly a fire.

When I worked as an electrician for my dad and uncle right out of high school, all the
guys working on a project do their very best to mess with the other workers. You either get
with the program or you get run over and end up being the victim of a lot of practical jokes.
