Dow Jones and the Temple of Doom: jakewastaken: Because you've added so much more to the conversation, right? My point was indeed that Fark should post shiat first because I like it better. I get disappointed when it's the other way around. I don't think any of this has any bearing on my understanding of social media. I think you missed the point far more than I did.

The difference is that Fark has moderators who choose what links get approved. This story could very well have been posted the same day as the Reddit thread, but for whatever reason it didn't get approved. Then, the same story was submitted again three days later and a different moderator saw it and approved it.

it's really the consistency i love here...

DaintySavage: I sound fat: DaintySavage: I saw this in brazil like 11 days ago. Are we just rehashing stuff we see on other news sites? I thought Fark was better than that.

Really, people? 4 comments out of 90 are saying that this was somewhere else on the internet before it was here?

Are you people aware of how the site works? It takes things from the internet and links to them.

Its a news aggregator site. If other sites get to something first, Fark is supposed to ignore it? If they did, I would never have seen this and, frankly, I laughed my butt off at this.

See, I dont go to reddit, or Brazilaggragate or wherever you saw it, I come here. Probably like most people.

We are proud of the fact you all like to hang out at reddit so you can feel supperior to the (clearly - cause I am here) inferior caliber of people who read that site. But you are here now, where the cool kids hang out. We dont need you to tell us that you saw it on reddit. We simply dont care.

See, my post was making fun of everyone crying about something being somewhere else.

I figured it was laid on thick enough that anyone would get it, but once again Fark proves me wrong

Really? REALLY? you consider yourself four people? Pehaps that should have been a clue that it might not be directed... ah skip it, just consider me an idiot. Its easier that way.

DoomPaul: jakewastaken: I see we're recycling 3 day old shiat from reddit's frontpage now.

I love when years old memes from 4chan are suddenly "new content" on Fark.

Really? Because I could care less.

A flaming guy as a mascot to burn victims?

/as if anything were too obscure for Fark

So much for the image, I guess. Oh well. It was fairly standard "why would you do that?" fare anyway.

Hi kids! I don't have a lot of time, but is everybody feeling great? Man, I am looking forward to those skin grafts! Looks like Pablo took them all for himself. That's what you get when you play with fire, Pablo. Oh? Trapped in a house fire? My bad. Usually I'm a good guesser. I can guess what brought you here. I'm pretty accurate. I guess you could say "I'm on fire!"

Britney Spear's Speculum: Saw this on Reddit like 3 days ago

jakewastaken: I see we're recycling 3 day old shiat from reddit's frontpage now.

I just went to check out the front page of Reddit. The thread was submitted one day ago. Perhaps what Reddit really needs is somebody to submit an article on telling time. We'll start out really slow for you. Maybe the difference between seconds and minutes. You won't have to tackle the hard stuff like days right away.

gweilo8888: SeraphicSorcerer: At first I thought you were referencing foobies, but then I actually saw there's a boing boing, and that is actually a little sadder (that it exist).

Even sadder still is that you've only just noticed the existence of one of the earliest popular websites, dating back to the same year Internet Explorer launched:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boing_Boing

I suppose it would be sad, if it even came close to being a halfway decent site. Considering I've been using the web since 300 baud was awesome. early internet was the sweet bbc days. and I was a mac guy at the time, and was having fun with the web and not a newsie since I was 12 at the time. Though windows did have ghostbusters/95 on 3.1 which was fun to play

saturn badger: SpdrJay: Some of us don't read Reddit...

What he said.

The problem isnt reddit or cracked or buzzfeed, every brazilian knows 'kibeloco' steals everything they post from other sources. This pic may be way older than we all think

It's "BBS". I can find no evidence of there having been a "Ghostbusters/95" game, which, if it existed, would presumably have been for Windows 95, not Windows 3.1. Also, Boingboing has been a popular site even in recent years, exceeding Fark on Alexa web rankings for much of the past few years.

Is this some odd sort of trolling, or something?

Hi, I'm Tom!. I read this on FARK just a few minutes ago. WTF? But maybe that head injury I suffered has affected my short term memory.

Hah -- I go right back to an acoustic coupler on an Apple IIe, when I was 10ish in the early 80s. Now *that* is back in the day.

I took that to be "BBC" as in "BBC Micro": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BBC_Micro

But you're right, he was probably going for BBS.
