Last Man on Earth: runcible spork: Last Man on Earth: At least she included You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch, even if she didn't give Karloff any credit, dude didn't sing that often.

Karloff narrated. The singing was done by Thurl Ravenscroft, who among many other wonderful things was the voice of Tony the Tiger ("They're greeeat!")

Really? Huh. Could have sworn I remember hearing he sang as well. Guess I'm misremembering. Even if it was just narrating, blew my mind when I found out.

gunga galunga: Junzi Nicuzn: Lame, no Toxic Love,

It was number 7.

Huh, totally missed that. I stand corrected. Guess I should've looked more closely.

I missed it because I was looking at the images, not the titles. When I think of Toxic Love, I think of big smoke demons, not a recording equipment.

ArkAngel: Hellfire from Hunchback of Notre Dame should be much higher than an honorable mention

Quite. The villain is planning to set a woman on fire unless she sleeps with him. Not really "It's a Small World" territory.

Last Midnight from Into the Woods (unfortunately there doesn't appear to be a good video of this).

Bathia_Mapes: 12. Batman: The Brave And Bold, "Drives Us Bats"

Woot!

While glad to see that one, I'm upset at not seeing the Batplay that featured A Superstitious and Cowardly Lot.

How can you rank "Mean Green Mother" below "You'll be a dentist"? If you are talking villains, Audrey II was the real villain.

2013-01-24 09:08:24 PM
"Kyle's Mom's a biatch" from the South Park Movie should be on there somewhere.

2013-01-24 09:10:13 PM

vartian: Cythraul: BOOOOOOO! For no Dr. Horrible Singalong blog!

FTA:  22. Dr. Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog, "Freeze Ray" (2008)

Yes. But both Brand New Day and Slipping are much better villain songs than Freeze Ray.

2013-01-24 09:13:41 PM

Ryker's Peninsula: "Kyle's Mom's a biatch" from the South Park Movie should be on there somewhere.

Nah, in the context of the movie, that was just a song ABOUT the villain. Blame Canada might apply, though.

HAHAHAHAH, what an idiotic list! Not only they have a veeeeery loose definition of "Supervilain" but they missed THIS!!! (click on the image to see the video)

Ok so maybe The Master is just lip syncing to this Scissor Sisters tune, but if it's good enough for Beyonce.

All those snotty new appliances from the Brave Little Toaster insulting the older appliances. The stereo scared me as a kid.

Could Nathan/Repo Man from Repo! The Genetic Opera count? If so, either "Legal Assassin" or "I Never I'd Love You So Much" should be on there.

2013-01-24 09:56:48 PM

Jim_Callahan: While we're doing the nostalgia thing, list fails without Vincent Price as Professor Ratigan in "The Great Mouse Detective".

Albeit, list has "Gaston", so close enough, I guess.

They gave it an honorable mention, but there's at least five other songs on that list it could take down.

I'd go with "Thankless Job" myself, since it shows how off his rocker he really is.

Came for "Friends on the Other Side," leaving only half-disappointed that "Be Prepared" and "Hellfire" didn't make the list. I know, there was a ton of Disney already.

Also, I would have picked "Everything You Ever" as the best villain song from Dr. Horrible, but that's me.

I would argue that in the South Park universe, Cartman is much more of a super villain than Kyle's mom.
I will concede that in the context of the movie, you would be correct.
And then I would remember another reason why I don't have a girlfriend.

Rock and Rule at #5? ....acceptable. Mok was a truly glorious villain, though. Nothing beats when he finally gets fed up with Angel refusing him and he just outright chokes a biatch. "SHE can SING or SHE can SCREAM....but she still pissed me off."

2013-01-25 12:10:00 AM
Are you kidding me?? Ratigan's song is "runner up" when a Pocahontas AND emperor's new groove song is on there? That was Vincent Price...you don't argue with his evilness.

This one, which was originally supposed to be Jafar's big number, is even better.

What about this one?

Yeah, it's been a while for me as well.

Off topic, but does anyone else have the problem where the io9 and related websites (gawker, Kotaku, etc) will routinely crash in Firefox if you open more than one page on their sites onto different tabs? Like while viewing this article, if I right click on the link to the article about a "300 million year old mechanical gear" and choose Open in New Tab, it crashes within 30 seconds or so.

I don't get that problem, but for some reason whenever I load a Gawker site, it first loads without any graphics or CSS. Then I reload and most of the CSS is there but some graphics are broken. And then I reload once or twice more and maybe the site will appear properly if I'm lucky. Seems to ONLY happen with Gawker sites and only on my home internet connection.

For a blatant "save the earth or we all gonna die" derp fest, Ferngully remains one of my favorite movies.

It's fun and "Toxic Love" is teh awesome!

Or as I refer to Ferngully now: "The Original Avatar"

Any of the Rocky Horror Picture Show songs will do for me on that list. First thing I thought of when I read the head line was at least one of those songs should be on it.

Holy crap, who wrote this thing?

They had "Hellfire" as just a runner up? HELLFIRE???

One of the most passionate, poignant and nuanced villain songs of all time and they had it as a runner up? Preposterous!

chemrebel: Gerard Butler was awful in the movie version. One does not simply SPARTAAAAA into the Catacombs...

I saw the movie first and I kind of like his take on the phantom better. He was much angrier and butch than when I finally saw the broadway's fancy boy phantom. Plus it was before 300, so I didn't have that impression while watching.

2013-01-25 10:06:26 AM

ArkAngel: Hellfire from Hunchback of Notre Dame should be much higher than an honorable mention

Presumably because he's not a supervillain. But yes, awesome villain song, perhaps one of the best.

Last Man on Earth: No Tim Curry at his absolute sleaziest?

Tim sang in the Three Musketeers?!

gunga galunga: ArkAngel: Hellfire from Hunchback of Notre Dame should be much higher than an honorable mention

This. Probably the most twisted song featured in a Disney movie.

I've got friends on the other side.

Actually, this list could probably be replaced by the nostalgia critic's top ten Disney villain songs.

2013-01-25 10:31:30 AM
Tim Curry has to be one of my favorite actors right now (seeing that my favorite past away a few years ago). And I was upset that none of his songs made the list. He has so many memorable ones too.
