Satan's Bunny Slippers: BATMANATEE: Satan's Bunny Slippers: TheEdibleSnuggie: I like the taste of horse...

/csb- had it one time while on a trip in France.  It's not AS taboo over there.  But here in the USA where we treat our farking pets better than we do people...ZOMGZ U EAT HORSE?!??!??!??!?

On my list of things to try is horse. I'll need to go to either Canada or France for it. It is weird that we humans, well mainly Americans, choose to distinguish between pet and food. I'll admit that I do too, but only with cats and dogs, and only as it applies to me here in my home country. Guinea pig, horse, steer, pig, sheep, yeah I'm good with all that, and I'm fine with other countries' consuming animals I'm not comfortable with. I have consumed dog on a business trip that involved visiting several Asian countries, I didn't care for it but I wasn't weirded out by it either. But I also wouldn't necessarily want to see it in Kroger next to the lamb shanks.

I can get horse meat in Canada? I'd actually like to try it, but I've never knowingly seen it for sale anywhere up here in the Northern Wastes.

I know that LaPalette in Toronto does, but I've heard there are several that do now in both Toronto and Montreal. It's on the menu, but they don't advertise it much.

The Googles tell me that it's not easy to find here in Ottawa, but I could probably get some across the river in Quebec where it is less taboo.

Sure, but would you eat a people burger?

Give me a week stranded on a mountain top or on an island and I'll get back to ya.

Spiffy! I'm trying to work out vacation to Canada this summer, that is one of my goals while I'm there. Let me know if you get to some before me, I'd love to hear your opinion and then contrast to what my experience is.

That thing is a piece of dreck, and I say this as someone who misses the Angry Whopper. Hell, I'd eat the Angry Whopper made with horse, assuming the horse meat was decent quality.

Note: I didn't say the Angry Whopper was "good", though I definitely liked it.

The legalities aside, and morality aside... someone explain this.  I can't believe horse meat could be cheaper than cow meat?  I mean especially with how cows are raised commercially.

I gotta believe horse meat would be VERY expensive compared to beef?

So, the region that brought us Mad Cow because nobody was checking what was in the food, we now get Horse Burger because..... nobody was checking what was in the food.

Good job, UK.

xria: Alphakronik: Who cares? I'd eat a horseburger just as quickly as I'd down a dogburger if the shiat tasted good.

I think people care mostly because it suggests these companies have no real idea of what is actually going into their burgers, and no real quality control on their inputs, which doesn't really inspire confidence in buying their products.

This. Sheesh.

The tacos at BK are the same as the ones at Jack in the box.

BK lost my business when they stopped making the bacon and bleu burger. That thing was farking delicious. I still would have eaten it no matter what it was made of. It was that good.

Lots of people in other countries (e.g. France, Mongolia, Austria, Kazakhstan, Italy) eat horses. It's weird how it's taboo in the US.

So, BK can continue to sell deep fried pig anuses (ani?) as Onion Rings, no problem?
