Well, at least they're trying for a two-pronged approach. I was beginning to worry that all they were going to try to win future elections was rig the electoral system.

GOP leaders fight the liberalization of spelling this work.

Several of my close friends were or are GOP party operatives, one of which was a GOP National Convention delegate in 2004. They have indicated to me that if I were to choose to be active in the GOP as a minority guy, I can get really far, really quickly because the GOP is bending over backwards to push the minorities to the front so they can say "Look at how diverse we are!"

This from the party who thinks affirmative action is 30 flavors of bad, though.

So it is electoral rigging and voter suppression?

Which flavor of potential GOP token are you? Asian? Black? Hispanic?

Asian, but I'm not a Republican.

Heh... The GOP has really lost the plot after losing to Obama twice.

"It's not our backwards ,regressive, bigoted policies and core beliefs that are losing us elections! It's that we don't have blacks and Hispanics spouting it... We just need to wrap our bullshiat up in a prettier package."

It's pretty clear how the GOP feels about these demographics and it's blatantly obvious what this "new push" is... Window dressing.

Well nobody is really a republican. Nobody believes in any of that crap, they're there for a pay check.

I remember one of my female friends complaining about how guys treat women like vending machines that they put kindness quarters into until sex comes out.

That's kind of what the GOP does with minorities. They don't respect, value, or actually address any non-white ethnicity as genuine equals... hell, most of the time they want nothing to do with them. They just want votes, and the new strategy seems to be "what buttons do we gotta push to get the minority vending machine to vote for us?"

So even when they reach out it still carries the veneer of being elitist and condescending. Like Colbert's Black Friend.

They attract too many racist supporters from the South so a few tolken minorities will never out weigh their skewed policies.

If they could pull off the trick of ditching their anti-gay and anti-abortion planks and maintain their religious base, they'd probably win majorities for a generation.

Hey, if you are a non-white misogynist or homophobe, there is currently no political party to represent you. That's got to be a political opportunity for somebody...

Their anti-gay and anti-abortion planks ARE their religious base. If they ditched those, what would be the difference between Republicans and Democrats?

That pretty much explains why the GOP isn't really doing much to actually court minorities.

And instead are gerrymandering the living fark out of any state they can.

If you can't beat the demographic trends, dig in your heels, scream as loudly as possible in an attempt to prevent the inevitable.

There are still plenty of differences. Supply-side vs. Keynesian economic principles, tax policy, healthcare, foreign policy. But as far as the gay/abortion things, yea, that was my point, it would be a neat trick for them to pull off to switch gears on those things and maintain the religious right.

Well, they've convinced the poor and middle class that tax breaks for the rich is good for them, so why not try it with race?

Hm. Get yourself into office, wait for the next major outrage to be committed, and then break from the party with loud and repeated complaints to the media that the problem with the GOP is their insane stance on (insert issue)?

Ishkur: I remember one of my female friends complaining about how guys treat women like vending machines that they put kindness quarters into until sex comes out.

So, is it just the "until" that's a problem?

Make sure you bring your $50,000/person entry fee. Women, since you aren't real people you only need to kick in 3/5th of the fee. That $30K sweetie (we know math is hard for you gals). Just let us take care of everything, if you're confused just ask the oldest, whitest relative what do do.

2016 he we come!

Well, sometimes the machine will drop two by accident, but if you're still hungry you're gonna have to pay for another one.

Unless you got small hands that can squeeze through the door.

I smell cash incentives. They'll have to outspend the entitlement machine, though. It could get expensive.

If your #1 concern is how much you pay in taxes, you must have a VERY stress-free life. And one that doesn't involve critical thinking.
