His testimony will be riveting. It's seared, seared, in his memory that he gave great testimony.

John Kerry was/is a horrible State Senator -completely out of touch with his constituentes. I think he'd make a horrible SoS. The only upside is his senate seat will open up in
MA and hopefully we can get Scott Brown elected in.

My father was one of those infantry soldiers walking through the rice paddies and jungle. He has a purple heart from being shot several times during an ambush. I asked him when I was young did he ever see the guys was shooting at. He said "No but I sure suppressed a lot of fire in my day. I wonder if the guy who got me even saw me?"

...you don't live in MA do you?

Scottie2Hottie isn't going to run for the senate, despite what the GOP hopes for. It also doesn't make sense. He got in on an anti-democratic wave, against a democrat who could care less about actually trying to get the votes to win. Then lost the seat when he came out like a raving loon against a democrat who actually cares about the people she was representing. Now he's gonna run for a seat in the same office he just lost? A mere few months after getting his ass handed to him? No no, naive one. He will, if anything, run for governor in 2014.

But if you lived in MA and knew what the politics here are like, you'd understand such things and why him running again would end up with him getting his ass kicked by the same if not more of a margin this time around. It's suicide for his political career that he's not gonna want to try

Maybe it's something about his voice, but even as he's cracking jokes in his opening remarks (I'm watching now), and even though the crowd is tepidly laughing at them, he just seems so flat and dull.

I heard the same kind of stories from my uncle. You're on one side of the paddies shooting across at the other side where the gunfire is coming from. Then if you're lucky the air support shows up or the artillery impacts. Otherwise you just keep firing. After all is said and done you go over and try to figure out how many you killed based on bloodstains or the fact the VC left bodies behind if they were in a hurry.

The only time my uncle said he saw who he killed was when they set up ambushed on known supply trails. They'd be up in the brush with a clear shot down at the trail. Even then you just triggered the claymores and poured fire down onto the VC column. Place claymores on side of the trail, open fire on the VC, then they dive into the ditch or the brush beside the trail to seek cover have Mr. Claymore teach them why that is a bad move.

/unless you were a tunnel rat, now that was a shiatty job
//I also here a couple of the not so bright officers tried to lead charges down the dykes and the like to more closely engage the VC. Those tended not to end well and luckily the dumb officers were normally killed

Well in that case you pegged Republican humor to a T.

I support Kerry's nomination (though I would've preferred Susan Rice). It doesn't change the fact that John Kerry is walking Unisom when he speaks.

Kerry brought down the house at the DNC last year. No, seriously. He was actually riveting and had some great zingers on Romney.

Tunnel rats were frelling hard core! You had to be the right build, and have the mental stamina to crawl around in the dark for days on end. Many people ran out screaming just from training.
