Yeah, well it's good to be on friendly terms with McCain.

2013-01-24 09:19:41 AM
Maybe he is more qualified for the position than the other.

In fairness, Romney would make a shiatty Sec. of State too.

Well the black lady refused to hop on the Benghazi poutragewagon, so here we are.

I know this is difficult for subby and other members of the false equivalency party conservative wing to understand, but being rich does not automatically make you out of touch. Being rich AND out of touch makes you rich and out of touch.

Well of coarse, there is a chance the Republicans can pick up a senate seat. This has nothing to do with Kerry's, sex, credentials, or color.

I believe there is 'rich and out-of-touch', and 'rich and out-of-touch and a colossal douchebag'.

The difference being one views that poor as the essence of his political power and the other thinks the poor are people who make 100,000-250,000 per year.

And I'm pretty sure Kerry knows that the Cold War is over. So that's a step in the right direction.

Yeah, how does the Chairman of the Senate Committee on foreign relations ever stay in touch on topics of international relations?

Man...  I don't even want to think about that.  That would be a freakin' mess.

Well, if there's one person who needs to be a man of the people, it's the SecState.

Is America Ready for a White Male Secretary of State?

(I think it's been posted before, but still appropriate, maybe even tending to obligatory.)

Is America Ready for a Kid Rock Secretary of State?

I liked Clinton far more as a Secretary of State than as a POTUS candidate. I don't think Kerry will be as hardworking as Clinton was, but she had a lot of loose ends to pick up from Dubya's administration. Kerry really just needs to keep on a steady course, so he's a good fit, .

One "out of touch" patrician volunteered for hazardous swift boat duty during one of America's bloodiest wars.

The other was too important to go to Vietnam.

But, yeah, they're completely equivalent.

Who better to deal with the not-necessarily-white, male, out-of-touch patricians ruling other countries?

Also, "white, male, out-of-touch patrician" describes both 2004 candidates very well. Bush was just very good at faking the whole "Texas" thing.

So, being white and male is a bad thing?

Hot Lunch: So, being white and male is a bad thing?

By itself, no. Though some would like to assume that given the more recent presidential election.

One needs to add in...
Being obscenely rich with said wealth gained by, in many cases, dismantling otherwise healthy companies
Complete unwillingness to serve when one's nation called
An asinine view of what it means to be poor and without obscene amounts of money through every time of their life
...into the mix.

Kerry is just white, male, and rich.

He's currently chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

I think that coounts as a good qualification for the job.

/also, the US Senate is a bit better judge of qualifications than the people of the US.
//also, "advise and consent".

Oh I understand the very legitimate criticism of those who have inherited wealth and privilege, but it makes me uncomfortable to see "white male" implicitly equated with "out of touch."

Unlikely. After the debacle after Ted Kennedy's death, the Democrats will be keeping a much closer eye on the Mass. seats and elections.

Sounds like a really good guy for that role frankly. Not as good as Clinton was but good.
