Uh, no. It's still a lie, though I'm sure someone will believe it if you repeat it enough.

Pajamas Media: "Sure, Mitt Romney personally claimed that Jeep would move ALL production to China at a campaign stop in Ohio, but this TV ad that was put out weeks later doesn't. So if you pretend that MItt Romney doesn't actually exist on the Prime Material Plane, it wasn't a lie."

This just in: Mitt Romney lost the election and no one gives a f*ck anymore

/get over it

Politifact has said no such thing.  This is complete and total bullshiat, 100% fabricated.  Of course it's a green.

Oh, f*ck off, whoever greened this.

You're not being clever by greening trolling bullsh*t, you're just being an ass.

So they're lying about Politifact lying about their Lie of the Year?

I'm...starting to get confused.

Sgt Otter: So if you pretend that MItt Romney doesn't actually exist on the Prime Material Plane, it wasn't a lie."

Does this mean that Mitt Romney automatically becomes President and Barack Obama has to become Chief Druid of the Plane of Concordant Opposition? Because that might be pretty cool on a cosmic level.

That's what the GOP wants.  What this boils down to is this:

The GOP lied, straight up fabricated a claim.  Since they got called on it, they've decided that they lied about calling it a lie, because all the GOP knows how to do is double down on an issue.  Not enough oil?  DRILL MOAR HOLES.  Guns killing kids?  MOAR GUNS EVERYWHERE.  Get called on a lie?  MOAR LIES EVERYWHERE.

Is this one of those things where one guard always tells the truth and the other guard always humps a doorknob and screams about Benghazi?

2013-01-24 02:31:29 AM
Saying something is "literally true" doesn't mean it can't also be a huge lie. A lie is also "to create a false or misleading impression" (according to Merriam-Webster). Sure the Romney campaign chose their words carefully so each statement was true in the literal sense, but the ad was meant to convey that all Jeep production was being moved to China, and Obama's policies led to this outsourcing of American jobs. This is obviously completely false.

This article misconstrues the purpose of fact-checking groups. It isn't to determine what statements are literally true (both Democrats and Republicans say numerous things that are "literal truth," but are taken so far out of context or are so misleading that they are classified as blatant lies). "Literal truth" is an incredibly narrow and short-sighted view of the facts. I'd love to see "literal truth" fact-checkers, it would be the least worthwhile website ever.

At the time the allegation was made, Chrysler's guy came out and denied it flatly.

Whether or not they ended up sending jobs to China, no one could be faulted for taking the word of the guy actually working at the company over a politically charged advertisement.

President Obama should add whichever Farkmin greened this thread to his drone kill list and drop a Hellfire on their head for committing egregious crimes against humanity.

December: "Jeep IS moving production to China. Romney was right. Suck it, libs."

In conservative circles, it's a proper noun. Like Mr. Smithers or Mr. President - you have to formally greet it when you meet it, it's not something you take for granted.

I am sure this will be the first in a long line of non-sequiturs to show the utter disapproval of the nonsense contained in TFA:

I know that I trust Pajama media over Politifact. Because I prefer opinions to facts. It makes the construction of my reality so much more exciting.

\BTW did you know that I can get to work so fast on my bike (20 miles in 60 min) because my bike can actually fly?

Aaaaa-HA!  Of course SIR Mix-a-Lot is not, in fact royalty, nor has he been raised to the peerage!  He is now merely a trusted vassal*!  Therefore you are wrong, and also now Mitt Romney is President and Donald Trump is Secretary of State!

*(I'm actually not sure exactly how this works but I feel like I've heard that Knights are not actually part of the peerage.  If I'm wrong I expect many, many, many people to correct me).

Yo, Imma gonna let you finish, but I heard that GAT_00 sounded concerned (and/or tired) about... best part (forever)... Pajamas Media opening up a taco bodega next to Fox News HQ, which makes Sarah Palin automatically president and President Obama has to eat arugula out of her taco until the last bit of grey poupon is gone. -Herman Cain.
