Not when Flagstaff is a one-day drive from Taos. Hell, the drive to Park City is just a little bit longer in the other direction. Or split the difference and drive just as long to Crested Butte. Durango is only five hours away. And if none of those appeal to you, you can fly to Denver in four hours and have your pick of Summit County mountains.

This kind of thing reminds me of fracking. It's the addict scraping the last bits of crack off the pipe to smoke again. It's the housewife squeezing the last drop of water from a dish towel.

For god's sakes, people. They are trying to make SNOW out of SEWAGE. This is when you should be asking yourself if your should be trying to ski in THE farkING DESERT.

Unless it's been locked in an Antarctic ice core for the last 50,000 years, there's a very good chance that whatever water you're drinking has been pissed or shiat out by at least one animal at some point since humanity came on the scene. It's the water cycle...

Meh, I've heard about ski resorts using raw sewage in their snow makers for years now.

Actually, you can in Flagstaff, as well as the White Mountains. Northern Arizona is a cold, high altitude, snowy climate. Flagstaff gets very similar winter patrters to SLC, now that you bring up Utah, and has actually been getting better winters than Salt Lake in the last few years anyway. They had a storm the winter before last that dropped close to 4 feet overnight on the town, which is far lower elevation than the ski resort.

Snowbowl has been around forever, they just shouldn't be making snow, that's the difference here. Over to the East, they have Sunrise, and while that one has been making snow, they don't have to pump it UP the farking mountain to do it. Besides, TFA is a little misleading. 9,000 is the bottom of Snowbowl. The top of the San Francisco peaks is about 13,000 feet, plenty high enough for snow. The real problem is the fact that there is already water on the peaks, but they want to send it down the hill and bottle it, then pump water back up the mountain. That's where things actually get stupid.

Yeah, let's get skiers to drive for a day, drive down to Phoenix and then fly to Denver, burning fuel all the way so that you can make your point. It sure as hell won't pump any more pollutants into the air, now will it? And Park City isn't "slightly longer" than a "days' drive", it's actually much shorter. 30 minutes outside of SLC on good weather days, and 9-12 hours from SLC to Flag, depending on the number of stops along the way. Maybe you should do some research first before you start posting "facts" about Arizona, distances, driving times, etc...

it is always fun to go to Flagstaff in the winter to see the idiots who believe that all Arizona is like Phoenix.  Shorts and flip flops in the snow.

Actually, it is treated and not raw. For the most part you could tweak the processes just a little bit and pump it right back into the potable water system and it would meet the drinking water standards.

Typically, it is cleaner that what comes out of most rivers.
