What was the free throw count in the 2nd half? Since Duke was behind and needed to foul, I'm sure it's massively in favor of Miami.

Anybody got that stat?

I'm counting 15

Looks like Duke fouled 14 or 15 times. They weren't really trying to send them to the free throw line since it was so out of hand. By my count Miami shot 22 ft's to Duke's 19.

Somewhat on topic ... how come no greenlight about the NCAA screwing the pooch on the Miami investigation?

2013-01-23 10:05:48 PM
Miami came out guns blazing and i guess the dookies couldn't hit anything. i got home at half time and was amazed at the score. duke couldn't really get the margin below 20 and miami was still on fire and getting out on the break. they got outplayed.

again, just like the NC State game, home court advantage and the past few years the state of florida(FSU and Miami) have been a pain.

Miami a recent addition to the top 25. Alabama on the other hand, not so much. yeah it's a rebuilding year for Kentucky.

I, for once, am glad I was at work and missed that abomination.

I don't watch college basketball until March Madness, but I was flipping through the channels and had to stop. Duke 19 Miami 49. I sat stunned for a moment and checked again. Duke does suck.

It's a good day when Duke can't make their 3's. Keep firing away Dookies.

I want to pimp-slap some of my fellow KU fans that were complaining about how "bad" they looked yesterday... on the road against the #11 team in the country. Consistency is a very, very good thing.

Just keep winning, baby. I will say we still have room to improve on both ends of the floor, though. And if that happens...look out!

Miami beat Duke in basketball? That's usually how it would happen in football.

2013-01-23 11:36:52 PM
Duke (16-2, 3-2) fell to 0-2 when playing on an opponent's court.

They've played 18 games and only two were road games?  What in the fark.

Looking at their schedule, it looks like all the rest of the away games were played on neutral sites. So they did have games away from Cameron Indoor, they just didn't play the game on the court their opponents would typically use.

Yeah, if someone isolates McLemore and takes him out, we're in trouble. However, I get the feeling that Self knows this (hence taking him out for so much of the first half yesterday).

I said to Mrs. Samurai before the game that the ACC regular season champion was going to have four losses. At this rate, I'm getting more confident in that statement.

kelly appears to have been a bigger part of of O and the D than i thought. Plumlee II got burnt by Miami's D a lot. then dukes guards went what? lemme look..... 5 out of 38. that was the problem.

in a game like last night in Miami. Plumlee III should play more than 6 minutes.

I'm not sure how much better defense KU can play. The offense can definitely stand to see some improvement though.

That said, who cares if they win ugly? They're still winning, and that's all that matters. They keep doing that while everyone else loses a couple of games, and they're going to jump to #1 and stay there.

News flash. Kentucky is awful and barely deserves a mention. Duke was #1 at the beginning of the day.

No, they've played a bunch of road games, but they've been on neutral floors.

Headline win subby. I am always partial to a Clerks/Kevin Smith reference...and combining it with the Duke sucks meme AND getting the detail correct that they lost by exactly 27 pts. Just superb. Maybe it is just me since I don't see a lot of love for it in the thread so far...but personally I would say this is an early candidate for context HOTY for sports.

Duke is 0-2 on the road.  Hence why they have scheduled only 2 road games in their first 18 games.  Pussies scared to leave the friendly confines of Cameron Indoor.  This is why.

And you missed the part upthread where someone pointed out the 6 wins were on neutral courts.  They played UK in Atlanta, three games in the Bahamas, Temple at the IZOD Center, and Davidson at Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte.  Only the Davidson game was remotely close to being a true "road" game.  True, it would be better to say they're 0-2 on the road in ACC play, but either way they never set foot in an opponent's house until these two games.

Funny how GMU's fall into mediocrity directly coincides with Miami's rise to promenance.
But don't tell that to all the Mason fans who were constantly begging to get rid of Laranaga, we're so much better with a guy who can recruit.

Fans can be dumb.  Like the ones who swore it wasn't Sendek's fault that team disappeared in March.

I'm not sure what bringing Kentucky into the conversation accomplishes? Sure they have 6 losses, but they haven't lost by 27 to anyone in years.

This exactly, if you compare Duke's early-season strength of schedule I doubt anyone comes close to having played as many top-ranked teams as the Blue Devils.

And the best part is that all the tournament are played on neutral courts, not ones that sold out for only the TENTH TIME EVER.
