Add interesting character to new medical drama, move character to her own show, change said character's personality for new show, move show to fifty different time slots, declare show failure, end show, profit???

Nigella and Bourdain are Dancing With The Stars judges? Is the show owned by Scripps or something?

Kate Walsh was preparing for this day. She has already started slumming on Comedy Central Roasts.

I honestly have to admit I have never heard of this show.

I would do such things to Kate Walsh

I thought Private Practice was that attorney show that was a spin-off of some other attorney show. And that it starred Camryn Manheim and that dark-haired, blandly handsome guy, and went off the air six or seven years ago.

No, that one was apparently a publicly held corporation blessed only with a blandly appropriate definite article.

never watched it. Actually, I don't own a TV. In fact, I got my neighbors to get rid of their TVs.

I think this is the shiatty Greys Anatomy spin-off (itself a shiatty show imho).

My wife has dubious television watching tastes and went on a torrent bender and I believe there were a few episodes of this spunk tossed into the Greys sewage mix along the way. I'm also pretty sure I have brain cancer by my close proximity to her when she was watching this garbage.

I've also been exposed by proxy to gentital crippling dosages of the Gilmore Girls by the same woman. We're still married... for now.

On a world where a show was struggling to get 3 million viewers, which is why the show was canned in the first place.

/It ain't breakin' MASH's record, and I don't know why anyone assumed that it did with that number.

As long as she's an active and frequent participant in your genital physical therapy program, I think you two crazy kids might just make it.

The wife-unit banned me from her proximity while she watched this drek because I kept calling the plot twists 3 minutes in. It's not that hard. You have a bunch of "doctors" and at best three "patients" which the weekly story has to revolve around so just think to yourself "what is the most ridiculous thing that can happen to explain the patient(s) mystery condition?" e.g. you got a young couple who can't get pregnant - they must be long lost brother and sister.

I really do like these shows because it is the only time all week that I can be sure to get some uninterrupted gaming time. I'm earnestly looking forward to what every "pretty people in completely contrive situations doing stuff" show comes along to fill the void left by PP.

If 5.22 million watched to make sure "Private Practice" was over, how many watched "Animal Hospital" to make sure it was over?

That and Grey's Anatomy are (were) two of the most intolerably stupid shows I've ever had the misfortune of seeing.

In just a couple of years the hospital on Grey's Anatomy was shot up, bombed, there was a ferry catastrophe, a plane crash, the head honcho was a drunken idiot and the guy who replaced him was the dude who had violent flashbacks every time he saw a friggin' ceiling fan. Who the fark is still going to this hospital? I think I might have gone ahead and sworn it off after, I dunno, the second time in two years that a bunch of people got blown up or shot.

Initially, Grey's was actually interesting because it was mostly about unusual medical cases that came in, but over time it just turned into a prime-time version of General Hospital and became one of the few shows I simply cannot stand to even listen to. When it comes on, I go watch our other TV instead.

I saw Nathan Fillion already tweeting at her to be on Castle for an episode. That would be cool.

/would be even cooler if he'd get more than ONE freakin Firefly cast member to do a guest spot.

The only episode of Grey's I ever watched was the one where Kyle Chandler removes the IED from the civil war reenactor's body and then, while walking down the hallway to the bomb squad, the bomb goes off and kills him. Christina Ricci also guest starred as a terrified paramedic.

Fantastic ending.

/I stopped while I was ahead.

Who are you and why are you also married to my wife?

/wife was a private practice fan early on,started not to like it towards the end but since she had already invested time in watching it, she wanted to see it until the end.
//Also, please never take me to the hospital in Grey's Anatomy. If the staff their spent half their time on patients as they do on their drama, they would have cured cancer by now.
///That show drives me up a wall on how they make mountains out of molehills and I hate the Christina character.

My wife laps this crap up. I've watched a few episodes of Grey's Anatomy with her, but I lost the last bit of respect I had for the show when they had to hold their breaths and operate in 30 second turns inside a quarantine tent.

Hospital staff never heard of oxygen before? Can't possibly have any of that around, eh?

It all got blowed up by the bomb in the Civil War actor's chest.

Duh.

/// how does holding your breath in a quarantine tent save you from being infected? Do they not just breathe in the germs on their bodies when they leave it?

I freaking love that show. The finale was disturbingly tying-up-loose-ends-y, though, which has me worried it won't get picked up again. I thought the cancer thing was a liiiiittle too much (and resolved so quickly, whoa).

You think those shows were bad? Try watching them as a doctor, they are beyond bad.

Gilmore girls I didn't mind. Actually started watching it with my wife. Couldn't stand to be in the same room when she was watching Gray's, Desperate Housewives, or Parenthood though. We're still married, mostly cuz she's awesome on many other ways, but if it came down to TV tastes, the divorce would have been final six years ago.

I liked the first 2-3 seasons of the show. It was when they unceremoniously dropped Dr. Hahn because people couldn't handle all the lesbian relationship talk, I pretty much gave up. I tried to keep watching, hoping things would get better, but like you said, it just turned in to a crazy soap opera. I haven't seen an episode in years.
