How times have changed: He was famous for his fresh faced good looks when he starred as Anakin Skywalker

No he wasn't. He was famous for turning one of the most iconic villains in movie history into a whiny emo crybaby.

To be fair to Christensen, Lucas did that. And he'd kind of written himself into a corner in the original trilogy, since everyone always says "He's so much like his father!" whenever Luke starts whining or being annoying. You walk away with the distinct impression that Anakin was an arrogant, immature POS.

Honestly, the whole story of Anakin makes no sense.

Anakin didn't turn evil for ANY good reason. He had nothing to gain from turning into Darth Vader. He wasn't concerned about personal power, or using his power to control people. He craved respect, but that was about it. Was he truly so "pissed off at the world" after his wife died that he spent the next 30 years or so killing people? That would mean he was just a pure psychopath, and was NEVER a good guy at all. Maybe that's the case. But that's not the story that Lucas told. We're supposed to believe that Vader was a good guy, got turned into a bad guy (again, how? why?), and turned into a good guy again by...refusing to kill his son.

It's just horrible. The prequels were a *horrible* idea.

This. Its too easy to hate Hayden's terrible portrayal as pre-Darth. It doesn't acknowledge that he had literally no chance, with one of the worst directors ever who wrote some of the most stagnantly stilted dialog of all time. "I don't like sand, it gets everywhere"? Really? Give that line to DDL. Okay, not fair, DDL would drink that line's milkshake, but few other actors could make it sensible.

Hayden's first role after pre-Darth was a film called "Shattered Glass". I challenge any of you to watch it and remain of the opinion that he cannot act.

Snapper Carr: DenisBergkamp: Way too easy to hate the guy with how awful those prequels were. I'm struggling to think of one halfway decent performance from any of the stars..

Ian McDiarmid managed to overcome the terrible scripts and lousy directing and made Palpatine a good villain

To a point. Once his face was ruined he was a couple of goofy sound effects away from being a villain in Hercules: The Legendary Journeys.

It doesn't matter how popular a movie was if your acting is THAT bad. He stunk up the joint.

You don't know what you're talking about. Don't confuse bad acting with bad writing and direction. SW Suffered from both of the latter. By the same token, you can say Sam Jackson stunk up the place too. his schtick was just as stilted and cardboard.

Once Upon A Time showed why the Queen was bad in ONE farking episode and it was brilliant.
Lucas had millions of dollars and 6 hours. Couldn't pull it off.

The prequels were badly written and directed.  But they weren't a *horrible* idea.  Lucas is best when he outlines a story and let someone else run with it. Lucas has completely mismanaged his franchise.  He could of easily kicked out a dozen successful movies in the Star Wars universe if he would of just let go sooner.

He had 12+ years of direct influence by a Sith Lord. I've always assumed that it was more than just ideas planted into his head by Sidious but subtle dark side coercion. That is why, when he finally snapped, he was 100% under Sidious' control.

Whining.

Killing more younglings.

Holding us all the way he did by the lake at Naboo.

Slaughtering sand people like animals.

Getting his ass handed to him on a volcano.

Not only that, but how do bad guys start? They start as kids who usually get disillusioned and pissed off as teenagers. I'm tired of these whiny emo people whining about how "emo" Anakin was... Jesus, I've had 2 teenagers, they're pissy little shiats, no matter what.

On another note, it's crap like this that makes me hate DailyFail:

Hayden, 31, looked like a satisfied man when he emerged from the parlour, wearing a happy smile on his face.

Annoying gossipy snark...

It seems Hayden Christensen could be ripe for appearing in a new Star Wars film.

No. Please God no.
