That was pretty awesome of him.

Hey, that's my hometown of 7,000 people - It only took 10 years to make Fark! I've actually wrestled right there! The ref was my coach 20 years ago!

Yeah... there's not really non-Whites there. It's not racist, it's just cold. But yes, that's basically Home-Depot-quality halogen lights strapped to some conduit. They turn off all the other lights in the gym and pretend it's a big arena. LONG standing tradition in this small town. No idea how they hang it from the false ceiling, but they will probably do it differently now.

Drywall screws in the hanging ceiling framing is how my fil does it. I have redone all the lights he did after the light in the hallway fell like that. If the kid was bleeding from the head, he should've walked over to the camera and trash talk the opponent about a rematch.

Seriously, they actually gave him a loss? Can't they just call it a tie? Or maybe just call it a "no decision"? Or they couldn't have moved the match to another night? Ya, I understand that rules are rules and sometimes things just don't go the way you want them to, but come on. What if both of them had been under the light when it fell and neither could continue? Would they both be losers?

I didn't know you can lose a wrestling match even when an 80 pound gymnasium light falls on you. Injury default? The dude wasn't injured by the other wrestler. He needed to get stitches because the glass from the light cut his head. Maybe spend less time awarding undeserved wins to wrestlers and more time building your gym properly. I'd be pretty pissed about that if I was him.

They probably have every right to sue, which is the worst part. For one thing, that lighting setup was just stupidly overdramatic and unnecessary for high school sports - and for another I can pretty well guess that it wasn't correctly installed or safety'd.
