There can be only one.

Peter Davidson will always be my doctor.

/largely because I had a crush on Adric growing up

I still love the thread where we were discussing that Amy could die and have a later season with Rory as a heartbroken bad guy. At the end of that year, you find an old man pulling the strings who is revealed to be a scarred and twisted Adric.

FAR FAR too dark for DW, but man, an old evil Adric who is hellbent on ruining the Doctor for letting him kill himself would be great.

If you don't see a body, they're not dead.

Who's to say Adric didn't barely survive the crash, get picked up by some alien race and restored, but in a horrible, disfigured way (like Vina from Star Trek: The Cage), and eventually went all crazy and started blaming the Doctor and plotting the Doctor's downfall?

What about Rose?

nope. tfa said no recent assistants pretty much.

Graham Norton had Billie Piper on his show a couple weeks back and asked her about it. She answered with a firm "No."

Good. She's awful and symptomatic of everything that was bad about the reboot. She's the herpes of companions. Just when you think she's gone, she flares back up.

I think the red menace beat Rose in that department. Hell, they even did a 5 episode farewell tour season for that one that left even Red's most ardent supporters saying "WTF? Why didn't they just go away at the end of last season? This makes no sense."

Wiki covered my ass on this one...

As an Alzarian, Adric is a member of a species of extremely adaptable Race of people, theoretically capable of genetically evolving to suit any environment, though it is unknown if his particular substrain is capable of this. It is known that he possesses an inhumanly rapid rate of healing, though not to the extent he can regenerate amputated body parts.

So, his brain and enough of him didn't get smeared into a fine paste. Maybe his maths badge protected him.

I just want it to be known that I just started watching doctor who because of all the threads of it that I see here. I am watching the reboot on Netflix. I like eccleston's character. I'll be sad when I watch the episode where he dies. I hope rose stays...preferably with less and less clothing.

I don't know why people are getting excited about this article. It's pure conjecture. No facts at all.

I attended the "Project Motor Mouth" convention this past Saturday where, during a panel discussion, the subject of the Doctor Who 50th anniversary special was brought up. Three of the Doctors in attendance (Peter Davidson, Sylvester McCoy, and Paul MgGann) said they haven't been approached about it yet, although all three sounded up for it. David Tennant said only that he had talked with Steven Moffatt recently, but wouldn't even say about what.

So, in other words, Either they're keeping things very close to the vest, or, more likely, nobody knows anything.

(and as for any former companions saying they won't appear or won't consider it? Yeah, money talks...)

Everybody but Sam Tyler is dead.

2013-01-23 06:34:01 PM
You know, I think Rose gets a bad shake over that whole thought she was the only companion stuff. Her purpose was to introduce the show to a generation who'd never seen it. If they truly knew nothing about the show, they wouldn't know there were other companions because the Doctor certainly never brings them up. Rose was the bridge for the whole idea. Then the idea was introduced that the Doctor would try and be more mindful of his companion's futures instead of just dropping them off somewhere and never going back for them or just losing them somehow. That's why Rose and the others kept popping up again and again.

I wish the companions would just go away and stay away, personally. I certainly don't want anymore false goings away like the Ponds for a season and a half. Amy became some sort of parasite I was worried the doctor would have to treat chemically to scrape off. I don't like whiny, needy Doctor either.

"...all eleven Doctors and River Song? Sounds great, right?"

If she's the catalyst for bringing them all together, it might work. But the only reason for having all the Doctors in a 50th anniversary special would be for the purposes of fanwank. Anyone interested in a good story for the 50th anniversary should not be interested in this.

Do the math: 43 minutes ÷ 11 Doctors. Or even 60 minutes (like some of the Xmas specials), or even 90 minutes (two-parter). Even 90 minutes ÷ 11 Doctors.

Even at his best, I doubt Moffat (or anyone) has the chops to write a coherent, compelling story to cram them all in.

Involve the other 10 peripherally in a story - make River the crux of it, that's a good idea - but have Smith having to rescue the rest from limbo or something (although something better than Baker clips from "Shada," a la "The Five Doctors"). Then follow it up with a special where the living Doctors are all on stage together being interviewed by someone clever and interesting and who is a canon-knowlegable fan (how about Chris Hardwick?). That would be far more satisfying than dividing a 43 minutes or 90 minutes by 11 Doctors.

Billie Piper said on Graham Norton last week that she's not involved and doesn't feel it would be relevant. That being said, Freema Agyeman has said that, while she isn't involved, she and the rest of the previous cast members will be out in full force for promotions and such.

Donna, Rose, Martha, and Co. may not be in the 50th Anniversary episode(s), but they're be doing pressers and appearances. (Note: Freema and John Barrowman are both in the US at the moment filming "The Carrie Diaries" and "Arrow" respectively.)

I liked Miracle Day. I didn't like the Vagina At The Center Of The Earth ending, but I liked Miracle Day. We got to see Jack with a true love who wasn't Ianto and who wasn't female and married to him. None of the Team died. And this

is always Win. THAT'S feminism, not that old 'being a stripper/whore/eyecandy with a fancy security clearance' crap that US television pulls. Dealing with the everyday life of everyday women who have to deal with extraordinary shiat.. that scene will always be one of my fondest memories of that show.

Besides, Rex grew on me, and so did the blonde girl. But mostly, Rex grew on me.
