Vyvyan: When my hamster finds out you nicked his carrots he's gonna kill you, Neil.
Neil: Oh, was it SPG's? I didn't know he ate carrots.
Vyvyan: He doesn't eat carrots, Neil, he sticks 'em down his underpants to impress the girls.

/Ewww, that's just "Nasty".

unfarkingbelievable: Lip synched or not, it still sucked major ass. Since when does the national anthem call for ghetto yodeling?

Since January 27, 1991, best as I can tell. Somehow a song written and otherwise performed only in 3/4 magically went to 4/4 and has rarely come back when there's a vocalist involved.

If Beyonce would make a video nasty, everybody would just forget this lip synching stuff.

Dear Republicans/Conservatives:

It's you worrying about minor shiat like this that makes you look like the Party of Crazy. I wish you could get your act together long enough to be a credible opposition to the Democrats. But as it is now, you're a joke. It's actually sad. No wonder Obama was easily elected to a second term.

Do you really think that anyone has ever been the slightest bit interested in anything you say or do ever, Neil?!

Sleep gives you cancer, man, everyone knows that.

Look! People come to see a LIVE performance! SOme may even have paid hundreds of dollars for a ticket in a crappy seat.

if you're going to scam with lip syncing, then you may as well put out on stage a ventriloquist dummy on a chair next to a boom box and press PLAY.

Kelly Clarkson performed to a prerecorded track, too. So did the choir.

DRTFA since I don't really care but I did come into the thread for the Young Ones. If you liked it you may like Bottom which had the actors who played Neil and Rick on it (different people) but Mike showed up every once in a while. Similar humour. Watched The Young Ones back when MTV was cool in the mid 80s. The funniest thing about the show was that both myself and my mom liked it. We have completely different tastes. Further my wife hates it (what does that tell you?).

jake_lex: You'd think being all butthurt about everything connected, however tangentially, to the Obama Administration would get old after a while, but apparently it never does for these people.

The same could be said about the people who continue to whine about Bush.

And it features Stephen Fry, Hugh Laurie and Emma Thompson.

You might also like Filthy, Rich, and Catflap. Link It has Rik and Ade playing characters that are basically the same losers they play in Bottom, plus Nigel Planer as Rik's Manager.

brap: The best performance on The Young Ones was Motorhead.

As awesome as it would have been if Lemmy performed at the innagural celebration.  That said, a live performance  The Ace Of Spades, lip-synched or otherwise, would be awkward for everyone and read like a tasteless Mel Brooks' joke from Blazing Saddles.

Maybe they could do (We Are) The Road Crew.

Jake Havechek: Why did "The Young Ones" have a musical act in the show you ask?

The BBC gave you more money for production if you had a musical number in your show.

To the station!
