My friends and I had a fun event last weekend. We relived our old days, fired up Royal Rumble 2000, and turned it into a drinking game.

1 Beer Shot for every time someone enters.
1 Beer Shot for every time someone is eliminated.
Everyone was given one actual contender and if their contender won they got to pass out a drink to everyone.

Everyone was assigned 1 person with a certain rule. For example, the Godfather was allowed to hand out one drink for every ho he came to the ring with. Anyone with Bob Backlund could stop drinking while Bob Backlund was actively rumbling (which was not so long). Anyone with Steve Blackman could deflect a drink to someone else twice.

It sounds easy (like a modified power hour) except the chain-eliminations made it a little tough. But for people who had never seen the Rumble from that year, the events were a surprise. Even the people who don't know anything about wrestling liked it.

I've only done it once before, but I guess you could do it for a live event. Making the rules was easier for a Royal Rumble that has already happened - the rules I made up for certain players (all assigned by draw) were intentionally funny based on what happens in the Rumble.

Anyway, CM Punk...

chapman: Make everybody else take a drink while shouting in their face "STRAIGHT EDGE MEANS I'M BETTER THAN YOU"

Yeah, pretty much that.

So, if you draw Kane as your Superstar, does that mean you get to hand out flaming shots? (Though, I suspect that Kane isn't rumbling this year because of the tag team match with Hell No & Rhodes Scholars)

Decillion: What about the greatest non-eliminations? I remember someone letting Matt Hardy stand on him so Hardy's feet wouldn't touch the floor.

Royal Rumble 2003. Shannon Moore (at the time using the gimmick of Matt's little MF'er) helped prevent Matt's elimination at the hands of Jeff.

The Rumble is traditionally my favorite match of the year.

Unless they f*ck with it. I think it was 2001 (i may be wrong) when Taker had 7+ minutes in the ring before the next opponent came out.

That kind of crap pisses me off.

I.. uhh.. I mean you can but oh boy would you regret doing the 60+ flaming shots. Maybe one. You'd have to pause the rumble but I guess so.

The entry points in some of the Rumble seem well-spaced, and at other times you can tell they're being done for dramatic effect. Towards the end of the 2000 rumble, people seem to be coming out every 30 seconds, whereas early in the match when it's just Rikishi everyone has plenty of time to come in, get eliminated, and for Rikishi to catch his breath.

Also, speaking of Rikishi, that was the same Rumble where 2 Cool were all in the ring at the same time, and they had time to convince Rikishi to dance, put on all the gear, dance, and for Rikishi to eliminate them both... and then dance some more.

I was JUST watching that last night. One of my favorite moments.

The other one...I do not remember when this was, but I think it was one of the big guys in the ring just devastating everyone (longest clear I'd ever seen) and from the announcer table comes a cry of anguish!

Lights go out.

I don't have cable or I would become part of the fWc myself. I have to watch WWE on Hulu Plus or Netflix, which only air them 24 hours after they air on TV. I don't understand why, but the WWE hacks RAW into a 90 minute show on Netflix. That wouldn't be so bad if they cut out the promos, but they cut quite a few matches too.

Just a heads up for WWE vidya game fans.. THQ's auction ended with most of the company's assets going to several different buyers piecemeal, -however- no one bid on Darksiders or WWE.

Reports are coming out however that Take Two is making a side-deal for the WWE license.

I honestly don't remember. I remember Jerihco winning the belt that night in some 4 man tourney. It was cool to be at a show. The only other show I was at live was in the 80's. Jessie Ventura wrestled Hulk for the belt. Lost by DQ for hitting em with a beer can.

/it was real to me damnit.

The three faces of Foley Rumble was 1998.

Best Rumble has to be 1992 or 2002 even though everyone was pretty sure who was going to win those years. They had by far the best line ups of all the Rumbles (the 1992 Rumble had 8 future/past WWF/E champions at a time when title reigns really meant something). While the one guy in the ring and suddenly his biggest adversary comes out next moment has been a bit overused, these Rumbles had two of the best (Flair v. Piper and HHH v. Austin).

So yeah, there's this commercial for the Royal Rumble and it got me thinking...who actually has bars that still show wrestling?

I remember trying to find a place last year that would be showing WrestleMania without success, and the number 1 response seemed to be "What's WrestleMania?"

Anyone have any better luck in their area?

PS: This commercial actually happened? Why are they not all as awesome as this?
