Was expecting A Serbian Film 3d, was not prepared for.the utter horror in the article. Not sure if I can sleep now.

On a related note, I went to the Hard Rock Casino in Vegas a few weeks ago for the first time... never seen a casino so dead in my life.

I'm not going to knock him for being on bipolar medication and gaining weight... but that aside, I'm pretty sure Axl Rose hasn't hit a note in tune for like over a decade...

I don't know what you would call this, because it's not really a Cool Story Bro, more like a Cool Musing Bro. I just felt like I had to bloviate here for a minute (I get that way late at night when I'm supposed to be sleeping). So I know very little about GNR, and for the longest time I was convinced that "Patience" was sung by someone other than Axl Rose. You know, someone who sounds like a human being. Yeah, yeah, I get that hard rock/heavy metal has a long tradition of shrill-voiced lead singers going back to Led Zeppelin. I can appreciate a variety of rock singers who can shriek and scream with the best of them (Roger Daltrey, Robert Plant, I'll even throw in David Lee Roth and Billy Idol). My point is I can tolerate high-pitched vocalizations, but there's something about Axl's voice that is particularly grating to me. It's what's always turned me off about GNR's music. When I learned that that's actually him singing like a normal person on "Patience", I was blown away. So it turns out he actually can sing, he just does it for that one song and the rest of the time he elects to sound like a cat being raped and strangled because...why? Do the hardcore fans actually LIKE it? It's a shame because if it weren't for that voice I think I could have quite enjoyed this band at their peak.

Your musing hit the nail on the head for me. I loved Appetite for Destruction...great songwriting, tight hooks, a band that really gelled. Then the vocals would kick in and I'd have to turn the volume down. I never understood Axel's appeal. I think the difference between him and the other vocalists you mention is that, even while hitting the high notes, those other singers were still in tune and still sound like they're singing. Axel just sounds like he's squeezing a nut with a pliers.

That's not white knighting, that's truth. If the drugs which keep you (this side of) sane cause weight gain, it's not a matter of lack of self control making you fat. It's a matter of the drugs. This is really retarded to claim people are fat and not looking out for their help, when it's the drugs they're put on which is the problem.

He's never going to look like he did in the late 80s, and he shouldn't. With the medication, he's not going to look jacked either, though. That's not his fault. Either the meds keep him in check so that he's really healthy where it counts, or he can lose weight and be a danger to himself and others around him - but at least he's thin.

He needs the medication. He should get a pass on the weight.

What should he be on/be taking, instead, for his condition? Some issues can be taken care of with a good slap to the head. Other's can't. If he has a real chemical imbalance instead of just normal 'i'm up/i'm down' stuff, what can he do?

Mood stabilizers will do that to a person.

3D doesn't need to be "killed" at all, they just need to stop trying to make every other movie 3D, and they need to shoot them all from the beginning as 3D, not this post production digital addition bullshiat. Kids' animated stuff actually looks pretty good, and I heard great stuff about Avatar, but I made the mistake of going to Clash of the Titans and the added mistake of seeing the 3D version of it, where they added something like 3 cheap scenes, just to charge you $5 more. That's the point where it becomes a joke.

Some of the positive effects is that weight loss is associated with med and the lack of sexual side effects. In fact sometimes Wellbutrin will go the other and increase sexual drive but YMMV. Also it makes a handy anti-smoking drug as well (Zyban)

CSB: I tried it to quit smoking.  I had some very disturbing dreams, real nightmare stuff.  I also had this sense of impending doom, like I had done something very wrong and was going to be caught at any minute but I hadn't done anything wrong.  I called my doctor and he told me to stop taking it imediately and asked if I felt suicidal, which thankfully I didn't.  Long story short, Wellbutrin ain't for some people.  Still smoking, darn it.

Antidepressants use different approaches to treating depression. Wellbutrin make work well for some people for others it may not or the side effects may cause issues.
