With all the quality innocent church girl tail that MLK was pulling in, combined with the damage a little misplaced baby batter could cause to his public persona as a reverend, I think its safe to say he was probably strongly pro-contraception.

Would people realize that being pro choice means NOT choosing an option that is freely offered?

God tell you not to wrap that Johnson or pop that pill to prevent unwanted pregnancy? Fine! Don't do it. But don't force your beliefs on others.

Only in the minds of liberals.

Nobody is fighting against contraception in this case. Nobody.

Nobody is saying you can't have it. Nobody is saying you shouldn't be permitted to obtain it.

Only in the twisted minds of liberals could the government force private employers and religious institutions to do something and when people object for religious reasons... They are "forcing" their beliefs on others. The only entity using force here is the government, because it's the only entity capable of using force.

Bullshiat. Health insurance is part of the compensation the person gets. it is part of THEIR PAY. Can a company dictate how I spend my money once I've received it?

That's the usual shtick from MLK day through the end of February. MLK would be the Republicanest Republican to ever Republe and would have been just terribly ashamed of what the Democrats and black people are doing with regards to whatever the issue of the day is ("Martin Luther King would have decried the Death Tax, CFL Mandates and every SPLC report ever!").

Starting March 1st, he'll be a communist, womanizing fraud again.

Also, the only reason that South Dakota mandates that abortion clinics have 4 broom closets per room is for tidiness. Nobody is against a legal procedure.

Hey, if your religion means that much to you, just close up shop and do something else. It's a value judgment. I seem to recall something about rendering unto Caesar, etc.

If you cannot do that, then you're simply full of pious bullshiat; and even your God, as evil and twisted as he is, knows that.

Control birth as much as you like as long as YOU PAY FOR IT. Pay your own way, then birth control would be a lot less grating to some. And if you are paying your own way, no one would even know you are using and doing.

Are you OCD?

I'm serious, you should see a therapist, maybe try some meds.  It's not healthy to have such a narrow, paranoid focus on everything.

When you step in dogshiat, your first thought is that some lazy, liberal moocher just let that dog crap wherever he wanted to and didn't bother to clean it up, right?  When a light turns red because some dude pressed the "walk" button on the corner, you assume he's a liberal trying to make you late for something, don't you?

It can't be a very enjoyable way to go through life.

This is their strategy for getting more minority voters for 2014. Seriously. They're attempting to co-opt MLK, Jr., and claim that if he was alive today, he'd be a Republican.

It's the dumbest thing I've seen in a while, and indicative of the GOP's lack of understanding as to why they're losing ground in this country. They lie. They lie flagrantly, repeatedly, openly, and often, to your face, because they honestly think that there will be enough gain in doing so to make it worthwhile. They're happy to misrepresent facts, misquote people, and rewrite history, all because they think that the small percentage of their target group will buy it, which is all they need, really, to win mid-terms.

When they lose even more seats in 2014 because all of these incidents are going to be dragged out for display over the next couple of years, they will, as others have said, double down on their stupidity. The party is struggling for identity, struggling for growth, struggling for reason, even as its extremist members continue to espouse even more extreme positions and actions.

Warms my friggin' heart.

The guy's fulla crap. MLK was a notorious womanizer. I'm sure he was glad there was birth control.

If the lily-white Tea Partiers want to curb the tide of those minorities becoming the majority, you'd think they'd be advocating birth control -- at least for certain groups. I guess that's always the problem: the right people aren't using birth control.

Overpopulation? Nah, that'll never be a problem.

Once you've opened that can of worms, let's follow it. Some religions believe that all in nature is a gift, including drugs. Others believe the military is immoral and against their beliefs. There are those who believe that beating the fark out of helpless prisoners and torturing them is against their beliefs. Same goes for sexually abusing said prisoners. So, do those people get away with not having to pay for a military? Let's not forget nuclear weapons by the thousands? Hmmm.....

Don't argue that the military is in the constitution because freedom of belief is in there too and it's against their beliefs, plain and simple. And if you want to argue original intent, fine. Did the "founding fathers" (hate that term) imagine today's military? Didn't think so.

I don't think it's an actual strategy to get minority voters.... I think it's a sincere belief that MLK would support them. Just like they've been doing to the Founding Fathers for a couple years now. Every important American historical figure is apparently now a diehard Republican. Ted Nugent even compared Rosa Parks to gun owners.... wtf?

Co-opting the beliefs of dead people is foolish at best, downright offensive at worst.

It's their tendency to always look backwards. Instead of proposing ideas relevant to people in the present, romanticize the past and try to convince people we can return to "a simpler time" when everything was better.

Republicans have been pretty hostile to minorities so instead of explaining why the party deserves their vote, it's much easier to point to beloved historical figures like Lincoln and MLK and say "You like these guys, right? Vote for us and it'll be just like that again. I swear!"

Good thing they aren't. Who are you, Roy Blunt, lying to the masses? THEY DON'T PROVIDE IT! FFS, PEOPLE. It's covered by the government because the religious institution is too retarded - sorry, I meant PIOUS - to help their employees with their basic health.
