Janice terrified me. Never understood why, but she and uncle death are about the only ones I agree with on the list.

Full of win. My sole reservation in stealing your idea and running with it is the perceived inability to drink beer easily while in costume. Was that a problem?

Nope...the black mouth is a mesh with velcro at the top (on the inside) - can be removed completely or simply folded down...

Here are the instructions I used:

What - no Elmo?  This scary little ginger muppet has forced not one but two guys into soliciting young teenage guys.

If any of the muppets in that list gave you nightmares, you are a complete pussy. This thread had scarier muppets than TFA.

The only thing on the original Muppet Show that scared the hell out of me as a kid was the ghost Muppet in the railway coach with Kenny Rogers singing "The Gambler".

Uncle Deadly freaked me out a bit as a kid, but that was the point. A variety show with stuff for adults AND kids. Much like the Animaniacs realized later on. You have stuff for BOTH audiences. That's how you hook folks. And entertain families.

namegoeshere: TFA FAIL right out of the box. I love the yip yips! And Janice = Squeaky Fromme? Yes, because all children are familiar with her antics.

I don't think you understand the Topless Robot audience.

So, it is confirmed that "Janice" is in fact a female muppet. I never quite understood what the hell that was supposed to be.

ninotchka: The Big Bad Wolf and the bear muppets used to terrify me as a kid

Ooh yes! The Big Bad Wolf! Now that was scary.

But Swedish Chef because of his human hands? Come on. Then you'd also have to count Ernie, Cookie Monster, Oscar the Grouch, Big Bird, and all the other Muppets with people hands. I don't buy it.

THIS freaked me out when I was a kid and still kinda does to this day (36 now). I love African rhythms and the music in general, but the masks always scared me.

I made myself an MP3 of that to use as my ring tone. People rarely recognize it, surprisingly, but when they do - let's just say I've been responsible for a few spit-takes.

That's not a muppet.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I can understand why some of those B-list muppets on the list were creepy. There's a reason why they weren't A-listers, after all. But I have the yip-yips as the ringtone on my cellular telephoooooooone and it's frickin' awesome.
Elmo should've been on the list, though. He creeps me the fark out, and he stole Grover's spotlight. And I used to be mildly disturbed by the muppets that danced around in music segments by taking their heads off and passing them around like basketballs.
Miss Piggy's unrelenting quest to utterly dominate the froggy object of her affection scared the hell out of me.
Crazy Harry wasn't a muppet? Or did my using a quote from the Evil Midnight Bomber What Bombs at Midnight confuse you?
The yip yips, janice, beaker(not Dr bunsen), gonzo and sweetums are among my favorites. I like to bug my kids by doing a yip yip impersonation. I liked Janice because being born in the 1970's I saw several women that looked like that. She was part of a band and she was the one picked for this list. Animal's first appearance was by far creepier.
Dark Crystal muppets are admissible? Fine, all of them.
Yep...Muppet Show muppets never bothered me at all. I'm 36 and the Dark Crystal still kind of creeps me out.
Yeah. My mom tried to convince me that Dark Crystal was just like Sesame Street when she took me to see it in theaters. Needless to say, my mom and I have a difficult relationship to this day.
AH! Achmed The Dead Terrorist, from.. fark I cannot remember his name. Dunham, I think.
To be fair, your confusion is understandable; They stopped using Crazy Harry much decades ago. (I think the last time I saw him show up was a brief cameo in Muppet Treasure Island?)
You might want to look up Rocky and Bullwinkle. There were doing it way before. Also Looney Tunes. Back in the day they were written for both to enjoy.
