hmm...looks pretty cool, overall.

oh awesome, an underpowered phone with an undeveloped OS, sign me up!

also, if this is the only compliment you could come up with after testing the product, it might not be that groundbreaking:
During our hands-on time with the previous beta version of the OS we liked what we saw. The interface proved slick, and we appreciated the ability to swipe the lock screen up or down.

I'm sorry, but I'd rather not waste my monthly data allotment on nothing but updates

Just as Android is moving away from the iOS look and feel, a new guy pops up and wants to play.

Sorry, I fear that the Firefox phones will sell about as well as current Blackberry devices do.

Aw damn, none of my apps work with the new version.

Based on the pics, I give this until about next Monday before Apple sues it into oblivion.

Cool. Will it lock up my browser for 5 minutes every time I open a site with Flash? I would love that Firefox feature on my mobile devices as well.

I'm glad I'm not the only person who was surprised. Why on earth would you base an OS upon HTML?

Is it really rocket science to build a phone which does not look like a clone of the iPhone? Designers never had trouble with that before 2007.

I was just saying to the family the other day... "There needs to be more smart phone OSs."

Looks like I was right.

/Still hoping that the Windows phones fail so that Windows 9 is more focused on desktop/laptop functonality.

Well seeing how the very idea of a smartphone is that it's all screen, it's kinda difficult not to build a device that's rectangular (because all visual media is rectangular) and 90% screen on the front of the phone.

Um, about that. Before 2007, "the very idea of a smartphone" was that it was 1/2 screen, 1/2 keyboard. Very few smartphones in those days were all screen.

I'll grant you that. But I think it's clear that Blackberry was primarily a productivity device meant for professionals and was more focused on being a PDA than the more lifestyle-type of experience that iPhone, Android and Windows offers. If you mean for people to be able to surf the internet, listen to music, watch videos, play games, run funny little aps etc etc.... the 1/2 keyboard thing doesn't really make much sense.

No, there were more than a few "all screen" phones pre-iPhone. Most had a handful of hardware buttons, but it stands to reason that, as the touch screen technology matured and became more trusted, and as the screens themselves got bigger, those would go away too.

This one, I particularly like. Sure, it's more of a feature phone, but it does pre-date the iPhone, and there's no denying the similarities in the design.

Really? You mean "rectangular with a black face and rounded corners and a single home button at the bottom of the screen, pages of icons with some icons in a dock", right? Because I'm pretty sure I didn't describe the similarity, and if I did it would not have been "rectangular."

Fark people! Have none of you seen a Palm Pilot? It can and was done differently until 2007.

In the Special Android Fan world, pointing out the obvious is being a fanboy. And lurking for someone to point out the obvious is normal. Also, padded walls.

I wish Dell (or anyone else) would update this phone - making it thinner than the previous version. Having a 'full size' screen and a real keyboard is awesome.

I have my HP iPaq floating around here somewhere. I miss being able to quickly login via the fingerprint scanner. They should make those as combo touch buttons and login-scanners on modern phones.

Here's the pitch

Mozilla says that B2G is motivated by a desire to demonstrate that the standards-based open Web has the potential to be a competitive alternative to the existing single-vendor application development stacks offered by the dominant mobile operating systems

Hey, question, how come my firefox doesn't play embedded youtube videos anymore? Regular youtube site works, other browsers work, but Firefox 18.0.1, nothing.

As an developer who works a lot with HTML5 I am really excited about this. Unfortunately I do question whether it will do well because there are far far to many people who 'know' HTML5/CSS/Javascript who will write the crappiest, clunkiest apps for this and it'll fall apart.

HTML5 is great when done right, but it is almost never done right. I blame JQuery.

Still haven't figured it out. Reinstalled both Firefox and Flash, no luck. Haven't really tried too much else, because I work on computers all day, and don't care to screw with my own stuff. It happens on my laptop and work computer. Maybe it is an adblock Plus issue somehow.

Dolphin did everything it was supposed to do, namely, display pages properly, has tabs and displays flash properly. I know of the hatred around here for flash but it is still prevalent. I also use Dolphin on my Touchpad running Cyanogenmod ICS.

Do we really need another phone OS? If it runs like the browser, it'll just be slower than Android with less features and the text on the display will look horrible.

The open in new window instead of tab option been wonky since FF16
