A supposed geek who likes BBT?  Bullshiat.  You are, at best, one of those people who pretend to be geeky because you bought big rimmed glasses and have watched a superhero movie or two.

I love how my parents think they know about everything I enjoy because they watch Big Bang Theory and the characters are nerds, and I'm a nerd, so we must be the same!

They act like high schoolers on that show; can't stand it.

And to consider FARK a bunch of trolls because a self proclaimed nerd has not seen Wrath of Khan? There are MILLIONS of trolltastic reason to KNOW FARK is filled with trolls. Giving someone a hard time for not seeing one of the most influential movies in sci-fi history is not one of them.

/Breathe. It's only a blog. Blogs are dumb. Breathe.

Trolling is in direct violation of the FarQ.

With all that being said, let me lament again: I like the show. Quite a bit. The show celebrates a culture I myself am very much a part in. The fact that between the traditional tropes, I'm getting legit winks and knowing nods to characters, stories, and knowledge only really appreciated by a subset of society is a boon.

No, you are not getting legit winks and nods to characters, stories and knowledge. It does not celebrate the culture you identify yourself in. Those are what's getting used for the laugh, and they are being laughed at, not laughed with. The nerds are weird and socially inept and we are supposed to laugh at them. We laugh at the geeks, not the hot blonde with the wonky eye. Hell, Castle has more legit and subtle winks to "geek culture" than farking the Big Bang Theory...and it has Nathan farking Fillion.

Oh, and it's poorly farking acted. Jim Parsons getting that many Emmys while Steve Carrell got none is a farking crime. Community does a better job with an autistic character every goddamned week, and gets nowhere near the same amount of the credit. The Indian guy? The Jewish guy? The nerdy beta male? Stereotypical and horrible. This show is bad, and you should feel bad for liking it.

I haven't seen Wrath of Khan either.

I'll turn in my Ricardo Montalban muscle moob implants in before I leave quietly with my head bowed in shame.

I don't get the BBT hate. I just don't. You can't get much more dorky than a guy who draws tentacle porn for a living and I like the show. My boyfriend is about as undorky as they get and he likes the show. It seems to be a great way to bring the nerd and the un-nerd alike together.

Granted, I have not seen every episode of the show but the ones I have seen I thought were about as funny as any sitcom has been. The hate seems to be coming mostly from the "they're stealing our CULTURE" types and as an anthropologist I'd have to say culture cannot be stolen, like biology it is in a constant state of flux and evolution.
