Yes, with T-shirts that say "Hillary 2016".

I've never caught a shirt fired out of one of those things. Having Biden firing it would only make not catching something even more disappointing.

Hmmmm President-to-be "Camaro Joe" Biden, has a nice ring to it.  You think the right is nigh-apoplectic with the Blah guy in the White House?  Joey B would make their heads fly clean off thier bodies-and likely be the most legislatively sucessful president since LBJ , since, he too is possessed of an insider's knowledge of what makes Congress tick coupled with an utterly ruthless pragamtism

Parade route littered with dead Secret Service Agents, all from heart attacks caused by the popping sounds (of the t-shirt cannon).

Jesus Christ. Joe's a great guy and all but can we hop off his dick for a little while? This is the same guy who signed the RAVE act and basically wrote the PATRIOT Act. He's just as much of an authoritarian as anyone on the hill albeit with a better smile.

/or do we only care about authoritarianism when Bush is president?
//I stood in line for hours to vote for Obama here in a red state but I can't get behind the notion that we should talk about what great guys the Prez. and VP are when Guantanamo is still open and the NSA is still snooping through all of our communications without providing so much as an estimate to the Senate of how many people are being spied on

I am generally against most issues held by Biden but if he promissed at some point in his inauguration he has the Dead Milkmen song played... well I might have to vote for him.

Yea. Republican congressmen shiat their pants and wouldn't let anyone into their jails. I know. He also didn't try too hard. Obama has not given nearly the weight to civil liberties like that as he has to other issues. I believe he said that civil liberties "weren't sexy issues" or something to that effect. He'd rather pander to a narrow group of people than fight for protections that would benefit all of us and that disappoints me.

I like Obama but I don't think this is true.  If Bush had the authority to create it, Obama has the defacto authority to close it.  Congress can prevent civil trials (even that I think is arguable) but Obama can ensure either military tribunals or simply release the prisoners.

Rockofages: What happened to Give Joe the Bird?

Richie Law stole the money, then ran to Reddit (like other Fark grifters) and started asking for financial investment advice.
At least, that's the last update I heard. Maybe they really did split it between three charities, but did it quietly and without fanfare. An update would be nice, yes.

I too would vote for Biden, despite the RAVE act killing my fun... On the condition that he does have a trans am parked on blocks in front of the White House at all times once in office.

No, it's pretty much Congress' fault. They've used their spending oversight to slip rules into budget bills that bar any prisoners at Guantanamo from being transfered to another prison. There's not much Obama can do except have a total stand off on defense bills over this one issue.

He is a Democrat, so everyone doesn't care how shiatty the guy actually is (like trying to ban encryption on the ol' internets), but sucks his cock regardless. Any criticism is met with "BOTH SIDES ARE BAD SO VOTE REPUBLICAN!", because you know, there are only two possible schools of thought.

Most people on fark are like a guy who's wife was raped years ago and was upset about it, suddenly making excuses why it's not the same when his wife is raped by a guy who plays for his favorite sports team.  It's pretty farking deranged.

He can close it tomorrow.  He can order military tribunals tomorrow.  He's the Commander in Chief.  He could order the military to return the prisoners to where they picked them up from.

These people are all technically innocent.  If they are guilty of anything it was being trained as soldiers and/or potential terrorists.  What's an appropriate sentence being a trainee for a crime.  They've done their 10 years, let them go.

Alternately, say to Congress, let them have civil trials (pay for it), or I will release them.  Let Congress decide.  Obama has no out on this.  It is a failure of his administration.

Oh, I have deep issues with a lot of what he supports, but I still think he seems like he's a good guy. I'd say the same for Chris Christie, though I'd say he and I diverge more often than me and Biden. Similarly, I support many things John Edwards would agree with even though he's a total dickhead.

Release? Where? They're in a military base in Cuba, are they just going to cut the fence and let 'em run? The home countries don't want them back, in a lot of cases, and the way they were captured means there's no way for them to get through immigration to the US.

I will admit, he seems like the kind of guy I would want to have a beer with. However, George W Bush was also a guy that would be cool to have a beer with (if he wasn't sober now). However, the Cult of Joe that is on Fark is a bit creepy. The guy is just another politician. If he had a R behind his name, the same Cult of Joe people would be hating the guy. He also has supported legislation similar to SOPA in the past, and in fact sponsored it. Remember a year ago all the uproar about SOPA? And now you guys are celebrating a guy, who in the past, sponsored an act similar to it? That makes no sense to me.

And no, I am not a Republican for all you mouth-breathers who will say "BOTH SIDES ARE BAD SO VOTE REPUBLICAN"

RockofAges: yea, can anyone please tell us WHAT HAPPENED TO GIVE JOE THE BIRD. Thanks.

Richie posted in the last GJTB thread that he was leaving for Redditt because of all the criticism of the campaign. People were thinking he ran with the money, so in the last thread to talk about GJTB (not a true "Give Joe The Bird" thread), he mentioned he was hoping to have the donations and gifts out by Feb 1.

So, in other words, we should hopefully know within a few weeks.
