Get married and long for the lonely days...

Sure for just $5 you can spend the whole weekend arguing with a couple of ALTs that Obama is really a deep cover mole and pleading with some guy who has a feminine sounding name for BIE. For that same $5 you can walk into McDonald's, order a few items off the dollar menu and for three wonderful seconds that teenage staff member will make eye contact with you letting you forget how bad your life is.

But if abuse is your thing that same 5 bucks give you access to the Politics tab as well, just go in there and disagree with someone and prepare to be berated to your hearts content

It is possible that you married the wrong person. There are probably more wrong choices than right ones, but still.

Nah he nailed it, only I would have added that its Reddit without boobs but more censorship.

And by treat, do you really mean contribute to it?

Fark can treat this illness for as low as $5 per month

Or you could go the old-fashioned bloodletting route.

Either way the results will be about the same.

I can't say that I have ever been involved in a political thread in TF.  And heaven help me if I feel that the best use of my time on the weekend is to be on the internet.

When did I say treat?

We're social animals, so it makes sense. But I think it's only bad for you if you are distressed by it. If you're a misanthropic loner like me, you find the company of most others more tedious than fulfilling.

If lonely is bad, what does a biatching wife and 2 screaming kids do for the ol lifespan?

2013-01-22 10:23:28 AM
Part of the problem is that using online interaction to alleviate loneliness is like chewing gum to alleviate thirst: it does a great job of taking the edge off, but more and more we're finding that it's just not a workable substitute. People need presence: there's something about real-life social connections that online interaction simply has not shown itself to be able to provide.

But because it provides a passing imitation in many other ways, people can sink really darn low before some event suddenly makes them aware of it. At that point, things get traumatic: without something to take the edge off, they'd have realized long before it reached that state, and perhaps done something about it before it got that bad. Nowadays, they don't even know until things get far worse, and the realization just breaks some of them.

I tend to fall on this side of the fence. Being around people tends to make me feel more lonely than actually being by myself, maybe this is because I don't have many things to relate to people with?

I wonder if loneliness is better than rejection? Like say you are really good at first impressions, but then as you feel comfortable phone calls and emails stop being returned. Like being told that yes, you are attractive and funny, but your personality kinda sucks.

Would be rather be unemployed forever, or just be rejected from many jobs? Live without hope, or keep getting your hopes dashed?

I'm just asking questions here. I can only affirm that all those things suck.

Loneliness is worse, but rejection is scarier. This is one of those snafus in human psychology that hasn't really evolved its way out yet.

Right now Im in a "hermit phase" I really havent felt like being around people much aside from my roomate and some days I wish she would get a new BF so I could have the place to myself in some peace and quiet and not listen to her on the phone trying to solve all her families ,friends and old coworkers problems.

Bullshiat. Rejection is easy to deal with. The biatch is packing too much baggage and using her kids as an excuse to be miserable. Another gash will come along in a day or two. Sooner or later a good one will show up. Until then, pussy galore and plenty of tales to never tell.

The kind of loneliness that I got can be treated for $25 a song; a little expensive, but if I hold out for the right girl, holy cow is it worth it.

That is the catch really, the company of any random person is not a cure for loneliness, as they are probably going to cause more stress by being the bloody irritating creature that most humans are. What is needed is the right sort of person to keep you company, as in, one whose company you actually enjoy, and those can be few and far between.

I'm in Australia, being in the 'wrong' time zone happens to me all the time. Don't take it personally.

/doing my bit for your social interaction
