Hetfield: HoratioGates: I'm kind of partial to Perfect Circle's cover of John Lennon's 'Imagine' in a minor key.

Why have I never heard of this before? I just looked it up on Youtube and it's beautiful.

Really? I always thought the original sounded depressing enough as is, the Perfect Circle version sounds like the kind of thing you'd imagine some suicidal teenager would listen to as they swallow their pills or slit their wrists.

Vacation Bible School: CavalierEternal: I really like the first one they did with Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters".

I just wish Metallica would go back to their jazz phase

That was...surprisingly good.

Yes please.

roblarky: New Rickroll

That, strangely enough, actually works.

Cargo: This is my favorite.  It's Rage Against The Machine so NSFW language even with the happy version!

Killing (Gently and Jazzily) In The Name Of

wow, now that was wierd, thought i was tripping

That's the greatest thing I've heard since the guy who took Megadeth's "Symphony of Destruction" and turned it into reggae. (Youtube it yourself, slackers)

Funkified Back In Black isn't half bad.

That metal version of Wide Awake is my new favorite song.

How Do They Does It Work?

Yep, but judging by the sound of the percussion I think the music was compressed first, changed the scale, then expanded. The drum just bothered the heck out of me - it was just unnatural.

CavalierEternal: I really like the first one they did with Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters".

I was singing that as "Yeaaaaah, something else matterrrrrsss ...."

That must be how Bob Ross' ears filter music, by major scaling everything.

HoratioGates: I'm kind of partial to Perfect Circle's cover of John Lennon's 'Imagine' in a minor key.

This version is very wrist slitty. Not a version of the tune I ever want to hear again.
Now the Rage Against The Machine Jazz version of Killing (Gently and Jazzily) In The Name Of And the soft jazz Metallica were so discordant with what my brain hears they both make me laugh. Every time I hear them.

Same can be said about the Nothing Else Matters mix as well

eMotive has interesting takes on all of the songs covered, Freedom of Choice was an improvement on the original IMO.

Thanks subby, I've been having fun seeing where these videos are taking me.

It's like Evanescence did a cover of Katy Perry.

I like it.  A LOT!

Every now and then somebody posts something on FARK that is truly interesting. My god, some people have time on their hands....how did they do this?

Not that I'm trading this in for the original....

Melodyne is a polyphonic pitch-altering program. Basically, you click on one button and this is the result.

Amazing what one can do in a studio these days, eh? :)

I have a firefox plugin that found a usable link in that first attempt so no complaints from me.

It is, of course, a variation of the original but it reminds me of World Leader Pretend for some reason.

Kinda drags. Chords are pretty simple, dumb even. All in all, a waste of time.

Now, on to the link.

roblarky: New Rickroll

I never thought I'd laugh out loud to a Rickroll again, but you proved me wrong

All of these are great fun.  Metallica in smooth jazz style was just awesome -- I heard a blue grass version of Metallica's Enter Sandman on the radio one morning and just about lost it.   I cranked up the volume to 11 like the idiot I am.

2013-01-21 07:30:38 PM
'Losing My Religion' is probably one of the best songs ever written.

2013-01-21 07:35:09 PM
That was WELL worth the bookmark, not only for the tune itself but for the other similar stuff folks have posted in here.  Now I'm going to have to try it myself with a few guitar tunes.

Lenny_da_Hog: FlashHarry: still a couple of minor chords in there, but, yes, that was interesting.

Major keys contain minor chords. ii and vi are commonly used to lead to the V.

The stripped vocal track is Melodyned, but the rest of the performance has to be recorded from scratch. There is no way to change one pitch in a chord after it is recorded.
