qorkfiend: Sure, if the South gives up their Confederate symbols and rhetoric. If you don't want people to remember you for things that happened 150 years ago, then don't embrace the things that happened 150 years ago as an integral part of your culture.

Oh, bless your heart. You really think all Southerners obsess about the Civil War all day longing for a way of life long gone, don't you.  I hate to break it to you, but most of us go our whole day without even thinking about the Civil War. That is unless some poor unfortunate Yankee with an inferiority complex brings it up.

Y'know how we make fun of those weirdos that recreate Civil War battles? Yeah, you're a little far gone. Let it go, man. Letting a 150 year old war color your opinion of people that live in the same region today is.. really freaking weird.
