qorkfiend: Sure, if the South gives up their Confederate symbols and rhetoric. If you don't want people to remember you for things that happened 150 years ago, then don't embrace the things that happened 150 years ago as an integral part of your culture.

My neighbor finally put away his Confederate Flag. I think his mom got fed up when he set fire to a tire in the backyard. This in suburban Atlanta.

Kyro: Nabb1: Oh, bless your heart. You really think all Southerners obsess about the Civil War all day longing for a way of life long gone, don't you.  I hate to break it to you, but most of us go our whole day without even thinking about the Civil War. That is unless some poor unfortunate Yankee with an inferiority complex brings it up.

The other day I was talking with a fellow son of the soil about the War of Northern Aggression, and how much we wish things could just go back to the good old days of white power and yankees staying out of our business.

Except that conversation never happened. Or anything like it. Nor have I ever heard a conversation like that take place. .

Bullshiat. You and I talked for hours over beers about that. Don't be ashamed.

Sounds lazy to me, using a knife instead of fighting like a man. Falcons fan, never mind - laziest team in the NFL.

Worked for the Falcons for a year (Glanville's first year), running their SupersTat system. I had to work every home game. Jesus tits, what a pile of failed humanity Falcons fans are. The only thing worse than a stadium full of Falcons fans happens when the Saints come to town. Human garbage, sorry.

Glad to see the Falcons didn't squeak by after playing lazy on a lead. Way to man up for Tony Gonzalez you worthless punks.

ongbok: First rule of self defense is that you respond to an attack with reasonable force to repel the attack. In other words if a single person punches you, you respond with a punch, kick, tackle. You don't pull a knife and stab them. Once you go for a weapon you just escalated and can't claim self defense.

You sound like you've never been in a fight in your life.

The last time I was in Atlanta 8 years ago my friend got stabbed while we were leaving an after party. There was a big fight out front and he was mistaken for one of the people that started it. He didnt get hurt too bad got it in the shoulder. It was a shiatty trip all the way around and I have vowed to never go back. My companys HQ is in Atlanta now and I come up with every excuse not to go there for awards and stuff.

I've been here 20 years. Sherman should have salted the earth here.

If the knife wielder went to the game, how did he get the knife past the metal detectors?

As a person who was born and raised in Georgia and lives in the eastside of Atlanta, and who knows way more southerners than northerners who live in the city proper, I'm getting a kick out of all of these people who assume the city is full of transplants.

Protip: it's not. It's the burbs that's full of northerners who are too afraid of black people to live where any actual culture is based.

Anecdotal evidence to his point: my office is in the burbs: of the 12 people on my team, two are from the south.

You guys seem awfully fixated on making the distinction between who is a carpetbagger and who is not.

I gotta ask: was there a reason to burn the tire, like political commentary, or was it a case of "it just needed burnin'!"?

We've secretly replaced 49ers fans with Oakland Raiders fans.

Let's see if anyone notices. >.>

It was a case of it just needed burnin'. They ran out of Christmas trees to put on the bonfire.
