With all due respect to the three late gentlemen, there's nothing tragic about these deaths.

82 is the puppy of the bunch, he's right...  And not just because he's Canadian, although we will both live longer than you because we are.

If, as TFA states, he went .249/.337/.358 in his best season, he wasn't a very good baseball player at the pro level. Enzo Hernandez just killed himself. Should I try to get a cheap greenlight out of that because he happened to play baseball too?

absolutely you should. it's called 'freebie' time. when two people of any same profession pass, there is an increase of interest in a 'trifecta'* occurring.

someone tried to take advantage of that late last night by submitting Harmon Killebrew's death notice (he died May 17 2011).

so it doesn't matter how important or influential or famous that person was, the act of loosely connecting the three outweighs the individual's status or contribution.

/absolutely no disrespect to whoever Milt Bolling was.
///trifecta spamming occurs for other stories besides deaths

Oooh, an American agrees with me. Does that square me with the xenophobes?

We have our trifecta.

I'm agreeing with a Canuck for once. This is ridiculous. Vic Morrow getting his head chopped off was tragic. The Challenger disaster was tragic. These player deaths are just an end to a normal set of lives

All due respect but never heard of the guy.

This must signal the post-Patriots, pre-Red Sox green light season.

Also in baseball news, longtime Miami baseball Ron Fraser passed away over the weekend. Not only did he have an excellent record, taking Miami to 12 college world series and winning the national championship in college baseball twice, his impact upon both the University of Miami and the city of Miami was remarkable.

Tampa university had dropped football and Miami was headed that route, until Fraser's success with the Hurricane baseball program started filling Mark Light stadium. This prompted the University of Miami to start expanding the football program instead of dropping it, which soon became of the nation's best. The money that college football brought in then led to the expansion of the University. Some years they even got more fans out to watch college baseball in Miami than several of the major league teams, which figured strongly in the expansion move of MLB into Miami.

It's almost like you want Hank Aaron to drop dead right now.

/let's accept Bolling as the trifecta and move on

Trifecta complete ...sorta.

The second best part of last year's Red Sox season was watching the 100th Fenway celebration in my neighborhood bar. Greats, not-so-greats, a guy that played 1 pro game (100% more than 99.99% of Sports Farkers).

Best part of last year's Red Sox season was it ended.
