If this makes NK attractive to you as a destination, perhaps you should check out Afghanistan as well.

Or just Earth in general. There's a reason it's colloquially referred to as "weed".

ransack.: Somaticasual: So, one upside versus about 1000 downsides?tweek46420: give me a few negative side effects then?

COPD, emphysema, a risk of low testosterone, and a slightly higher risk for testicular cancer.
I'm a full legalization supporter, but even aspirin has downsides.. We just have to weight them against alchohol, tobacco, driving, etc - all rights that come with responsibilities and possible harms.

You don't have to SMOKE weed. People do that because it's more efficient, and pot is expensive because it's contraband. So cross lung problems off the last. If it were legal, I'd just as soon eat it.

Granted, that was a hell of an omission on my part. And vaporizer technologies would reduce harm even from inhalation. But that's still leaving a lot of downsides unmentioned. If we're honest, it does cause some adverse reactions in some folks, and lung issues aside we're still left with hormonal and possible cancer issues and mood fluctuation in heavy users. It's just clearly orders less than tobacco and alchohol - and I'm still at a loss for finding a fatality that's unambiguously linked to marijuana.

Fark and humanity in general needs a lot more people with your rationality and civility.

I've found that anyone who is as against weed as some of the people in this thread are tend to just be contrarian assholes who's opinion I care little for. Bottom line is its less harmful than so many things readily available already, let's just allow the adults to make adult decisions.

They don't like it when you point out that all alcohol consumers are wife beating, child abusing, drunk drivers, who would constantly riot in the streets if strict control over their dangerous, addictive drug of choice wasn't in place.

I'll take some tokers over disgusting, violent, alcohol addicts.

I'll say it again .... the research into negative physical health and mental health issues have had mixed results. No, I don't accept that there are zero negative side effects. But, we don't have enough information to come to many real conclusions. I believe that we have such limited data because researching cannabis, in any form, has been kinda sorta taboo for the last few decades. We need more funding for more research. Now that it has been accepted medically in so many places as well as the recent legalization for recreational use, I hope more funding will become become available. Mostly from those who expect to profit from the new laws and attitudes. But also from the feds and NGOs who oppose legalization.

We can argue back and forth about the legalization and the comparisons with other vices in vague terms for now. Let's wait until the science is in to claim we know what the side effects are.

Is that what passes for haiku in Best Korea?

Richard C Stanford: Wow, pot is legal there! I'd totally move to Best Korea, except for the rampant corruption, mass starvation, system of forced labor camps, and flagrant abuses of human rights.

It's the weed making them paranoid about the US government. The studies were right after all.

tweek46420: Begoggle: Pointy Tail of Satan: There is lots of "tar" in weed. Writer is ill-informed.

If you believe on the libtards on Fark, weed has no negative side effects at all!

give me a few negative side effects then?

Many studies have looked at the effects of smoking cannabis on the respiratory system. Cannabis smoke contains thousands of organic and inorganic chemical compounds. This tar is chemically similar to that found in tobacco smoke or cigars.[44] Over fifty known carcinogens have been identified in cannabis smoke.[45] These include nitrosamines, reactive aldehydes, and polycylic hydrocarbons, including benz[a]pyrene.[46] Marijuana smoke was listed as a cancer agent in California in 2009.[47] A 2012 literature review by the British Lung Foundation identified cannabis smoke as a carcinogen and also found awareness of the danger was low compared with the high awareness of the dangers of smoking tobacco particularly among younger users. Other observations include increased risk from each cigarette due to drawing in large puffs of smoke and holding them; lack of research on the affect of cannabis smoke alone due to common mixing of cannabis and tobacco and frequent cigarette smoking by cannabis users; low rate of addiction compared to tobacco; and episodic nature of cannabis use compared to steady frequent smoking of tobacco.[48] The review has been criticized by David Nutt.[49]

they need to update Link

They don't even have an entry for NK - and they still haven't noticed that Colorado legalized it (I didn't look up Oregon).

Be glad you don't live in SK. $30-50 a gram and you better not get caught with it
From that link:

The PoPos have all the right to search you anytime they want and have your urine tested whenever they want. They even make a deal with you. They ask you to tell 5 pot heads you know or 1 dealer, or you get locked up in the jail or get banished if you are lucky enough.(US Citizens tend to be banished more than other countries' citizens. Remember, they can have your urine tested anytime they want and if your urine is positive for marijuana or any kinds of drug, you are doomed.
